Spotted things don't show...

Something I just realized from that other thread.

I just remembered I have been meaning to ask about this. Does this happen to anyone else?

Whenever something gets spotted by another person, it NEVER shows up for me. I just here "Enemy _______ spotted!". If I am close enough and they are within my mini-map, THEN... it shows up.

If I spot someone, the very second they go off the mini-map, when I hit caps lock, I don't see the thing I just spotted.




I have noticed... this started happening around 1.2..... along the same time all those other bugs/glitches started happening.

I find this extremely annoying, and I think it is a major bug..

Does anyone else know what i'm talking about?

I didnt think this was like that before the patches. I had that problem all the time, especially if im flying. There must be a reason EA/Dice modified it.

What's really annoying is when you try to spot as sniper but it just says that generic message and gives a question mark. I can be dead center on a tank and still get the generic. That doesnt spot the tank moving on anyones minimap. It's annoying doubly because while you're trying to get it to work, you're also spamming which no one likes =(

Yeah I get the no show fairly often. Especially for things like planes. I'll hear "Jet spotted" and look on my map and not see anything.

I do know if you scan as commander and then immediately try to spot things they won't show up for everyone else for another 15-20 secs.

Same here. I was in the F15 on OCS the other day and the Su34 was tormenting our troops because I could see the kills, but despite all of the 'Enemy Jet Spotted!' messages I couldn't see where the hell he was. Luckily one of my squadmates on VoIP was able to tell me where he was, but the spotted still wouldn't work. When I'm in a bomber I listen for things like "Enemy armour spotted" (or especially, "Enemy AA vehicle spotted :p ) so I can help the troopers out by destroying it, but when it doesn't show up on the minimap it's kinda hard to see which vehicle is which.

As for what Jofaba mentioned, yes, I hate that too. It's not just as a sniper, either, but as a sniper it's probably more noticable. I've found that if you're anywhere near a tree, or even ducked down in some tall grass, it'll put the '?' up instead of the actual spotted enemy/vehicle. And yeah, I hate trying to re-spot it an spamming, "Enemy forces, over." and have the minimap cluttered up with '?'s because it's annoying to everyone else, too. :hmm:

Airplanes never get spotted for me. I think that there is a circle that you have to be in. Outside of the circle of the person who spotted, it doesnt show.

They should seriously increase the diameter of that circle, so spotting enemy is more effective.

Yeah, and when I spot an infantry or vehicle in plain sight, it turns up as "enemy forces spotted" with a question mark. and so i get the "stop yakking and get off this net" a lot when im trying to spot.

I noticed the helo and plane spotting problem just after the 1.3 patch was released. I also think that this happens most if the spotted item is not in your current minimap view.
