Master or First?

Hi,
I am a Gunnery Sergent in BF2, I have all the basic combat badges so when I get 20 000 points will it make me a master serg or first? Can you choose? It says you cant be a 2nd LT unless you were a master serg, is that true? Becuase I want to get officer ranks! Please inform me on how this all works.

If u have the badges ur going first serg, no matter what, u cant choose, and u dont need to be master to be 2nd LT,

not to flame, but dont u think if u need the badges to get a rank, that the rank ur getting is better?, (not that is actually better in game), and u wont get officer rank with a better rank?

The reqs at bf2s state that you need Master Gunnery Sergeant to get 2ndLT, but Sergeant Major works the same.

As with Master/First Sergeant at 20,000, depending on what awards you have when you hit 50,000, will decide if you are promoted to Master Gunnery Sergeant or Sergeant Major.

You get the same amount of unlocks for either rank, its just that ingame the Sergeant Major will outrank the Master Gunnery Sergeant (as does the First Sergeant over the Master Sergeant). This will only come into account when a commander is chosen.
