Mic problems...changing options in BF2 PLZ HELP...

Hi there, I recently brought a mic and headset. After joining a 64 man karkland server i squadded up and was pleased to find a squad using VOIP.
Now this is teamwork i have never seen before..we were working completely as a unit...owning all the lone wolfs and winning round after round. The only problem i encountered was the comms. I coiuld hear everyone very clearly over VOIP...However, when i tryed to communicate (holding down B and then speaking) most of the time they would not reply or acknowledge my reqest or warning...i then asked a few times 'can you hear me' with no response. After trying a couple more times i got the response 'I really can't hear you Jay, i think you need to adjust your headset' so after repositioning i tryed again 'can you hear me' a couple of times with no reply until again the guy goes 'i think you need to change your volume...i really can't hear you'
So I go into BF2 audio options. I have VOIP enabled and it says '100% transmit and 100% transieve' but says nothing about volume or anying about taht..it also says something about threshold but i haven't a clue what this means. Can anyone tell me how to edit my mic in BF2, or how to increase volume, and how to test if its working?
    Many thanks

Once the mic is hooked up, prior to going into BF2, go to your START>CONTROL PANEL>SOUNDS AND AUDIO DEVICES and click on the VOICE tab. From here, click on the VOLUME button of the voice recording area. A small panel of volume controls will appear. On this panel, make sure the MIC slider is all the way up and then go to the OPTIONS word in the upper left hand corner of the panel and use the pulldown to select ADVANCED CONTROLS. This will make an advanced button appear below the mic controls. Click on that button. On this new panel, click on the Mic Boost box. Close it up and you should be as ready as you can be for setting up the BF2 Audio controls.

    Best of luck,

    Simon

thanks for that Simon, I really appreciate it. Have made all the changes above...I hope this works. However, in the bf2 options, what does the mic threshold bar mean? it ranges from 10% to 100%, you click test mic...how does this work?
      Many thanks

If that solution wont work tryo to setup you VOIP again.
          Go to Program Files\EA Games\Battlefield 2\BF2VoiceSetup.
Just like you did when you have installed the game....
          Good luck!

He has operational voice in game currently though so I believe we are just looking at a low pickup from the sound card. This should fix it. As to the threshold, it means the level of voice sound required for BF2 Voip to bother transmitting it. If you whisper or have your mic turned away or far from your mouth, it may not pick up the sound. This helps to cut out background sound transmissions if you are running a voice activated transmission as opposed to a push button talk system in other games.

If your voip doesn't work at all, one thing I have had luck with from time to time is just inactivating it and applying that and then immediately activating it again and hitting apply once more.

If none of this works, I can post a method to test your mic with the regular OS to make sure it's working at all.

            Best of luck,

            Simon
