Let me clarify somewhat. No changes to anything other than replacing the following vehicle spawns should be made for a ranked 'Vehicle-Lite' option to ALL maps:

• Replace Tank/APC spawns with Heavy Jeeps
• Repalce AA vehicle spawns with Light Jeeps
• Remove Jets
• Replace Littlebird and Attack Helicopters with Transport Helicopters

That's it. Its pretty simple and would breed new life into EVERY map. To be honest I would play maps that I don't play often if they had this option; as it stands now I pretty much only play Karkand.

Imagine playing Wake Island 2007 with 3 Blackhawk spawns on the carrier? Or Gulf of Oman with 2 Heavy Jeep spawns at the Airfield.

See what makes BF2 are the vehicles. This separates BF2 from all the other games because they implemented vehicles that were balanced and had checks. No need to have a mode that has 2x hp...all that does it make Medics godly and Engineers useless. I would definiately play on ranked servers that had ALL maps in rotation with this 'Vehicle-Lite' option.

Do you want to spawn on the Dalian Plant USMC carrier when there's only 4 RIBs for your entire team of 64? No. But if there were 4 RIBs and 3 Blackshawk helicopters then it wouldn't be so bad, would it?

I'm not saying to remove the non-ranked Infantry-only option as implemented in the 1.40 BETA, but I am suggesting adding a ranked 'Vehicle-Lite' option.

Yeah read that thread and apparently the DICE guy went and told the DEV team the opposite of what the community apparently wants.... go figure...lol

If it have vehicles is not infrantry only anymore. For what I see, IO will be unranked.

The lite version is pretty smart! Imagine Sharqi Penninsula without Havok choppers! Man I hope EA choses this one, it's brilliant!

IRL Infantry does have transports... I know I know this game is not IRL, but whatevea... The Battlefield series has never been strictly IO, so I think in keeping with that they should place transports in and keep the guns on them....

Just imagine actually drving around with full transports and everyone bailing out at the flag taking up positions....it would be sick...plus it is not like transports are hard to take out... Think of all the precious kills you can get with one shot of the AT or the GL...Boom 5 kills one shot, woot....

Yes you can.... sooo then tell me what is an Infantry Fighting Vehicle????...Google it and you will see that it is a troop transport like a Bradley, LAV, BMP, etc...

Some people just don't know that this is battlefield and will always have some kind of vehicle in it. If you don't want vehicles then, well you know what you can go play...

This poll renews my faith that the majority here are truly here for battlefield in some form or another.

You can always change the name as well. It doesn't have to be called "infrantry only". I don't see how folks can see most maps as being anything close to being fun with being totally on foot. Fire up a 32/64 player Oil Fields and start hoofing to flags. It's be a good ten minutes before the two sides met in the middle. Ten minutes of running with no contact. What an exciting time that'd be.

yes they would be wasting their time if they did IO as they intend it. it seems the VL idea is a no brainer in fact when EA announced infantry only maps i just assumed the transports would be in there guess im too smart for most of those people
