I'm talking about the servers with enormously large amounts of easy bots, the one I played on had 90. I don't know how they tweaked it to have 90 bots verses 16 humans on a tiny 16 player map but it was awesome fun.
It's actually extremely fun to play Coop with a ton of bots. Instead of attacking, you have to set up your defenses. Don't take flags, wait for the bots to come to you and attack them to reduce their tickets that way. Teamwork is more important than in regular play. Without it, the bots' sheer numbers overwhelm you. You spawn as engineer, lay a bunch of mines, get in a tank and wait. You spawn as Special Forces, you go blow up bridges to prevent the overwhelmingly large amounts of bots from crossing, get in a car and man the turret and prepare for the wave. You spawn as commander, and start dropping vehicles and supplies at your teammates. The vehicles serve as turrets and turrets only, and the supplies are there to replenish the vehicles. Of course, you artillery them to death.
You had to prepare a new strategy for new maps, and the squad system was invaluable. The commander commanded you to blow up the bridges and defend certain points.
I saw the absolute best display of teamwork I've ever seen in BF2 on that coop server.
If defenses are not prepared well, then you're dead! The point of it is to prevent the bots from capturing your last control point.
The server I played on had a rule where you had to play as MEC or China, because on most maps USMC got a uncappable base. (Which would make it too easy because you could constantly spawn and kill bots without the threat of being captured)
I want another Coop server with 16 players vs. 80+ bots on easy. (I don't know how the server I played Coop on did it but they did) The old server I played on was shut down. It was a very nice, fun distraction from BF2 but it was shut down.
