2 game modes realistic setting and a fun one ! ?

hey guys ,
i just thought of this ,
how about you have 2 game modes that bf2 can run in , like how gran turismo has a dead serious career mode with damage and earn money etc ,
and it has a play any car anywhere fun aracde mode .

what if bf2 had a mostly realistic setting ,with nerfed settings and stuff ,
but other settings could run "fun" mode which has all 1.2 settings ?

have them ranked ,and who wants serious can do that set up &
who wants fun games play theirs , huh ?

Its not a racing game, its a "shooting soldiers" game, and doesent the army provide you equip and stuff?

PRMM isn't realistic
BF2 isnt realistic
CSS isnt realistic
Your opinion of what would be realistic in BF2 isnt realistic
You see the problem?

The compromise I foresee is that when in unranked servers for core bf2 and the upcoming IO mode the server admin can select the spawn time so that the combat can range from instant spawn madness to 15 second spawn BF2 combat to 30+ second slower paced, more tactical combat.

See look at this... Planewhore was right.

Everyone has this idea of splitting the community.. this is a perfect example that just reinforces everything that planewhore said about infantry only.

Because of this normal BF2, and then Infantry only BF2, the whole community will split. People are already getting different ideas about it.

They really need to make this infantry only BS un-ranked.

if you want to play it you can - it will be available
but keep the core BF2 community united at all costs

TBH people have got to stop looking at IO mode as the second coming and more like the Clan Competition orientated mode it should be. This should be aimed so that the clans have a BF2 they can use for competition and scrims - a reward for them hosting the servers all year. If the casual player wishes to play it, IO will be available for them.

clearly, there some who prefer arcadish type gameplay ,
as in quick prone,stand,shoot
others who think this behaviour is ridiculous
skeletor, i havent said anything about what i think is realistic
surely with all this feedback, DICE can work out something

its quite obvious , no one is interested in playing un ranked
the greatest majority of servers (that i see ) are karkand/sharqi 24/7 ranked
all the custom map jobbies are empty 24/7
anyway , why the hell cant they get soem of teh community maps ranked
i have seen some awesome maps out there

I doubt it - Virtual Realism is subjective

On the other hand you have to ask yourself why knife-pistol servers are banned. Because the IO mode represents an imbalance that doesnt reflect the ranking system or normal BF2 with its checks and balances logically it should not be ranked
However, at this stage with all the unlocks I could want and not really overly bothered about points beyond topping a server in a game it doesnt bother me tbh if it is ranked in the end and it should not bother any player who considers themselves a veteran of BF2 by now.

It would be a great option to have a gameplay mode of realism, where a more realistic set of server rules could be an option. It doesnt split the BF2 base, just helps to provide another sponsored option to those who feel BF2 should be more simulation based, rather then "quake with military guns" based.

Yes, God forbid we give people options. They might make the wrong decisions.

While I don't agree with the OPs comments (I think it would be unworkable), I think people are making too much of this "dividing the communtiy" nonsense. Why are there so many 24/7 Karkand servers? Because that's what people want to play. It may seem boring or repetitive to some but that's the way they have fun apparently. Take this guy http://bf2s.com/player/43457727/. He's played Karkand over 7,000 times! I wonder if the guy has OCD or something. But that's the way he apparently likes to play. Should we tell DICE to make it so you have to play each board a certain ratio? Maybe fix all ranked servers so they have to have a set map rotation that way everybody has to play a certain way? Worrying about the community dividing is like getting mad that there are too many flavors of ice cream.

I don't think more choices is ever a bad thing. Besides, if all those who constantly complain to nerf this vehicle or that, have a server they can go to maybe they won't complain as much about making vehicles weaker.

As far as ranked or not for IO it doesn't really matter. It's not like the point system is some uncheatable thing that gives a perfect statistical picture of the player and can't be manipulated currently. People will always find ways to pad their stats if they put their mind to it.
