I'm not sure exactly what you were trying to say, but here is my best guess...

2142 will have an "open" beta that is limited to 10 or 15 thousand people (this would also be defined as a "closed" beta by everyone but EA/Dice, but I digress).

Everyone can play the 1.4 beta to their heart's content, provided they can find an empty slot on a server somewhere.

I played on this server: "1.4 BETA Europe #03" today with 1.4,
and got my points for it..
