is a great idea to make ultimate nerfing? skill to what? revive? snipe? You can make those with vehicles in the map. The lack of skill is why dice is making this mode. For skill less players like you that dont take time to use the tank to kill the ohter armor or change to AT and kill it. O forget. You are busy in the top of a building sniping or revining and getting killed by the armor you dind't want to change kit and kill with the AT kit

well lets talk assault, lets talk support, lets talk spec ops, when you aim any of there guns it takes skill to hit your target from a distance, and whats the point of having a medic if they cant do there job.

For some reason your running scared of the infantry only, is it because you actually suck without a vehicle, you know your gunna get owned. people will see the difference in people when IO arrives, they will see skill from plane rape. but one way or another IO will take the same fall regular BF2 took patches ago, theres always a cheating **** out there.

So what ever you have against IO Mr pmosh its nothing to do with "it will ruin the game" its to do with, it will ruin your score and you will become just another fake.

Karkand 32 the USMC have an APC and a tank whilst MEC have just a tank. Not sure about other examples but that's one i know off the top of my head.

The MEC is also defending and their is only a couple choke point entrances to the city...therfore it is balanced out.... If the MEC had an APC it would always be a MEC win...In the 64 the MEC has more overall vehicles than the USMC

I run around on the ground just as much as I hop in a vehicle...

Vehicles if anything just add more immersion to the game having to HIDE from them...being able to hear a chopper or tank in the distance take cover and then take them out without them notcing you IMO is the uber SKILL....but I guess that is to hard for you

I played it today, and I LOVE IT its great people actruly move as one, we had 3 squads attacking a point at once, and this coming from me, I thought this mode was going to suck. I love jets and tanks, but this mode is excellent, they made it great. Great fire fights, LOTS of team work. They might want to rework the m203 a little bit so a direct hit kills a person :P but other than that Im liking it alot. Who knew that taking vehicals out for make everyone come together and be friends! lol

It might be kind of cool if it could be set to particular maps in a server rotation...

Therefore you could mix it all up....like say have a IO map followed by a all out combat map...

Then you could do this by map size....

Dpending on server size

keep the IO to 16 or 32 only

um ther is no stfu whiners option and one poll option has a spelling mistake in. (rammer any how)
me i think its a good idea its a nice thing to have you can play it or can not the more options teh better.

Absolutely a great idea. I understand the criticism coming from people who think they'll be FORCED to play this mode.. but as long as there are over 500 servers to choose from, you'll be fine.. simply find another server. I'm sure most IO servers will specify so in the name or MOTD, and mostly if not always run IO mode. It isn't a problem before the full patch (with or without IO) is out, since this is beta.. it can always be changed.. that's why they gave us this opportunity.

People worried that an Infantry only or Orientated mode would kill off regular BF2 must loose a lot of sleep at night over the impact that Quake Wars and even BF2142 will have, it’s just another way to play the game, just like they’ve made armor focused booster packs what’s wrong with having infantry focused maps or mode of play?

I think the cause of all the balancing issues, which led to an idea of an infantry only mode.. is simply the "world" being too open, YET too small. It isn't that realistic, but great for arcade. If nobody understands what I mean, look at a real life war battlefield.. where the world is up to scale with it's surroundings. Basically, in simpler terms.. create a much bigger world/environment, with more things like trees, roads, buildings, etc.. so it's balanced for a pilot, a foot soldier, and a tank crew member. The plane would have a pretty difficult time looking for foot soldiers while they're marching through huge trees and land. But that dream will soon come true with new games like Crysis (cannot wait!!). BF2142 should be great fun, having a new theme.

Dont take this as rubbing it in, or me gloating, but do you see now that people DO want the option to play infantry only by the results (thus far) of this poll (currently 64% for, 28% against) as i previously said?

It would be good if the Infantry Only Game Mode were listed in the pulldown on the MP server screen. Heck, go crazy. Have Armor Only, Air Only, Sniper Only, etc.

They can't completely re-make the game, so some things aren't good.. like creating each and seperate mode for each class/type of vehicle.. I would rather that be decided by the type of map/mission it is.. like for example a hypothetical mode called assassination, it would be infantry only with or without transport vehicles, and the environment would most likely be at night, near a few buildings or something. If you have armor only, what would be the best environment for armor only? An open battlefield obviously, but then it wouldn't be as fun as without bombers, and AT soldiers. Infantry only reaches out to those who simply enjoy the infantry aspect of the game.. running around a huge dense environment, using squad tactics, capturing points quickly, doing ambushes on other squads, etc..

If infantry only will be created as a mode, I'm sure there will be a filter to use in the server browser. Should be.
