The AF settings for BF2 are called "texture filtering". An excerpt from TweakGuides.com:

"The texture filtering settings at Medium and High should correspond with 2x Anisotropic Filtering (AF) and 4xAF respectively, with Low being Trilinear."

You can override the AF settings in the ATI control panel, all the way up to 16x. I use 8x as I find its the best performance/quality setting.

You can have the texture setting in BF2 to whatever, as long as you enable the AF feature of your card (dont leave it as application managed)

The fps hit can be significant if you don't have a powerful video card.

BF2 panel, for some reason it overrides the card settings, for me at least.

Set AA in BF2
Set AF in card settings, thats how I do it.

Also, if you use a newer ATI card, try putting the catalyst AI at the 'advanced' settings. I did a test and found with the 6.4 drivers I received an extra 10fps over disabled.

heh, you have the same CPU and video card as me, although I just did a small overclock to 2.2ghz with stock voltage.

I am overclocked to 2.7 with the XP-90 .

When i tried advance setting i got CTD more then normal
