    The Magic Act

Ok I'm pretty sure that everyone has encountered this, and I have encountered this 7 times in the past 2 days.

When you shoot an Eryx or SRAW round, or throw a grenade, or any of that, and you die, your stuff just disappears, out of thin air!

I really hate this, and I just want DICE to fix it already, it's been around for a year already.

Yes, really annoying, mainly when there is a tank/apc raping your troops and the round that would destroy it vanishes 10 cms before impact.

clearly it melted because it was going so fast before it could hit... lol.

i get that a lot with nades.. the ones that would have killed that guy who started shooting at me just as my nade should have exploded under his feet sending him sky high, but never did so now i just ate a bullet pizza.

that ticks me a off a lot... oh yeah, i get that with TOW missiles and TV guided missiles a lot too!

speaking of TV guided missiles that fire but really don't because they vanish, anyone get the lock up freeze on the TV guided too? i get that one pretty often too. perfect shot but you can't shoot. i think there is a bf2 god watching over our prey... O.o *waves fist*

This really bugs me too. Especially the grenade thing - so many times I've been caught out with a grenade in hand instead of gun in a close quater fight. I always try to throw a quick grenade before he guns me down but it never works....I even manage to pull the pin on the grenade (according to the animation) but it doesn't go off after I die.

I remember Team Fortress and the days of leaving a grenade right as you died, only for the person who killed you to run over your corpse the moment it explodes, killing him instantly. An eye for an eye and all that....

I've had lots of posthumous Eryx and SRAW kills..

          You sure this is correct?

It isn't correct it still hits I just think the missle trail vanishes very fast. I've been shot at by an FAV and manage to pop off a rocket then die. I assume my rocket vanished but seconds later I get a kill.

              I'd say it's a 50/50 chance.
I can't completely agree with it either since I've not been able to "reproduce" this bug every time.
It seems to have a tight relation with the ping from me to the server, and also depends on the other guy's ping.
I realized that it happened very frequently when the other guy was pinging higher then me.
Also all the guys that are able to shoot me after I already ran behind a corner of a building are usually high-pingers.
Now I don't know exactly how, but the BF2 netcode does take those high pingers into consideration when calculating the game events, and sometimes it seems to mess up the logic pretty bad when doing this.

Remember that when you lose line of sight (e.g. flat on your back critically woudned), your missile either drops or completely changes trajectory...

I think THAT is the real issue here. Your missile does NOT carry on in the same trajectory you had intended that millisecond before you died.

As for the grenades..I'm not sure.

I think that you actually haven't pulled the grenade out completely before you get iced.

That is also a weird thing I noticed... For example, I fight tanks - which I do most of my time, and I get shot while one of my rockets is on it's way to him the rocket will go straight up in the air while I'm blasted backwards. But sometimes that doesn't happen, and the rocket will proceed on it's way to the target I was pointing at just before I was killed and then award me the kill.
This just happens randomly it seems. Sometimes the rocket will go straight, the other time it will change to the direction your view was thrown off while you were shot.

But the most nasty thing which I experience a LOT are the "invisible" rockets that go straight through any target. Giving you another 5 second reload time before you are ready for the next shot. And sometimes the the guy in burning tank will just shoot you, bail and laugh his ass off because from his point of view you were just standing there looking at him doing absolutely nothing...

I think when you get critically wounded your SRAW round will drop in the air because your "sight" drops. It's like if you shoot a round and then look down at the ground. The round will plummet.

Grenades explode after you get critically wounded. It's happened plenty of times both for me, and against me.

That's exactly what we're discussing here. But what you're saying is not necessarily correct, since many of us noticed that what you described above doesn't always happen.

                        Re: The Magic Act

It's a timing issue. The grenade isn't considered 'live' when you see the animation of the pin being pulled - that's the problem, because it should be. As is, you have to see the grenade fly from the bottom of your screen before you know it's actually going to explode.

yeah that bug annoys me so much, you fire the shot and are busy flying it to the target the "BAMM" your choppers shot down and the TV guided missiles just vanishes "puff" into thin air. . . very annoying

and yeah i get the "locked" up with the TV guided missiles loads of times what seem like at lest once every 4-8 shots, ive found that some times i can click back and forth between the chaingun and the missiles and then it works then other times nothing i just get stuck in tv view with my piolet shouting over the comms "ffs do somthing, SHOOT!!" which always makes me feel good lol
