    video and ram

    if i have a video card with 512 mb and add it to my 1.5 gigs am i really playing bf2 with 2 gigs of ram?

    custom dracula case
    amd athlon 64 3400+2.2ghz
    1.5 gigs kingston ram
    500 watt psu
    200 gig ata hd
    ati sapphire x1600 pro 512 mb pcie

    no, the video card memory is seperate from system memory. Nice try though:)

      No of course not, the memory in your RAM and the memory in your graphics card are 2 totally different things

        nope, but it still helps to have more video memory, except your card has a 128bit interface, so it is a waste to have anything more than 256mb. lol.

              yes, but only if you pry the memory off, and solder it to the appropriate connections (you'll have to fabricate those, too) on the other side of a single-sided 512mb stick.

              Let's do it! But I insist you buy the ram, and I insist that you supply the beer that will be needed in order to pull off such a delicate task.
