from nothing straight to veteran?

i wanted to get all the badges, so today i went to oifields to get the anti air badge and ribbon. after 3 min, i got 11 kills with the aa vehicule so i got the ribbon, then minutes later(7 min) , i got the badge, but it wasnt the basic aa, it was the veteran. ive never had a basic aa badge nor stayed in a aa vehicule more than 20 seconds in a round. so my question is if its true that if u get a ribbon before u get the badge that goes with the category of the ribbon, u jump straight to the veteran badge instead of the basic badge, since u got the ribbon already, in the same round.

The reason you got veteran, is the fact that for basic you had to be in AA for at least 5 minutes. Since its only 10 kills needed for veteran, you met that requirement before you got the basic badge, so it just rolled them both up into veteran.
