Verifying client data takes too long

I think the title of this thread shows my prob...

maybe it's because the new boosterpack??

I'm not really sure but verifiing my client date takes nearly 3minutes.... :hmm:

Loading the map only 20sek.. :hmm:

Read about this problem in other forums but all answers are like: "you need more ram and stuff.." <- this couldn't be a solution for me because my sys sis:

    AMD64 4000+, 2gigcorsair, 240gb samsung sata, 7800gt

    before I made a new win- + bf2 installation I hadn't these problems..

    Anyone got the same prob?

    thank you :)

EDIT: OH NOES!! Sorry doods, I found it ^^

Verifying client data is on the server side, not the client side, therefore its a Dice problem not a user problem. This is why somtimes it takes forever, and sometimes it goes quickly.

However long it takes, it's not welcome.

Some servers force you to go thru the gray screen that blacks you out of picking spawns, squads and weapons until after the game starts.

I need 20 sec to load in BF vanilla, 45 or less in SF, same for Euro and armored fury.

I tend to stay in servers where the map stays on just one so I dont have to suffer lost time loading/verifying/blackouts every few maps.

I got a hdd problem which caused this vcd-prob. The thread I pasted in my edit shows me how to fix it:

You gotta teach windows that it shouldn't swich your hdd in PIO-mode after bf2 crashes.

Sorry for opening this thread: I should have use the search-function of this forum ^^

Err, no. It's almost all client-side. If it goes quickly it means that you've connected to a linux server that doesn't have a data-check (i.e. no green TV icon in the server browser).

Check out this thread which should help you. I used this method last year and got the time from 2 mins down to 45secs.
