    BF2 cache

WHy does Bf2 decide to make a new cache and end up being a complete lagfest, it always loads all high graphics, it puts my computer into a freezeup and it frustrates me so much any one else have this problem?

It happen to me, if i change account after using one, it overwrite the graphic settings and put the AA off. If I wan't to change account I have to exit the game and enter again and login with the other and the setting is ok.

I think I saw that on the release note for one of the patches, that one of the new features is 'now with 10% more lag'. Nice that they didn't make it a streaming download feature that we had to pay for, tx Dice

He's not talking about lag. I know what he's talking b/c it happens to me every and then too -- BF2 will sometimes "forget" your video options and build a whole new cache (ie. "optimizing shader files") using some other combination of video settings.

I've gotten in the habit of just going to video options and always pressing apply every time I start up BF2 as this seems to help.

Not a problem if your graphics card is basically a sake of sh!t. My Ati Radeon 9250 can barelly hold the game, meaning my display options cant go any higher then low.:dead: I dont really kno if thats a good thing or a bad thing. Whatever the case, I have to save $250 to get an Nvidia GeForce 6800.

I am not familiar with the cache issues, Never happens to me.

Ebay is your friend! I won an eVGA 6800 Ultra for $110. Just look around. It will make sooooo much difference. I went from a 5200 --> 6800.

It's a bug. I have my settings on all high, lighting to low, and shadows off with 4x AA. When this bug occurs it loads a map with all high settings and AA off. It really gets annoying.

If you load a map and see that it's optimizing shaders after you've already have a cache folder then disconnect and try to reconnect again.

Yep, that the problem exactly. I know whenever I see that optimizing shaders message, it's time to abort and restart BF2...
