    LCD Refresh Fix

God. Everytime I reinstall BF2 I have this problem because I have an LCD monitor.

When I open BF2 get Splash and then a Crash because the default BF2 setting doesn't like my monitors inability to display at that refresh rate. Ive tried editing every video.con file I cam find but I don't know which one to change and what syntax to set it in.

It needs to be at 1280x1024 at 75Hz

Any help? Tried search and google but it doesn't work

    Re: LCD Refresh Fix

i think the solution is to delete the video.con file in the default profile.
The line now reads "VideoSettings.setResolution 1024x768@60Hz" for me but i cant remember if i edited that or it worked it out when i deleted the file.

I would assume you must also be able to change the refresh rate via an addition to the comand line but im not sure if thats possible or what the syntax would be.

      Doesn't work. My monitor doesn't support 60Hz

Try Changing that line to read VideoSettings.setResolution 1024x768@75Hz

It depends on which profile you log in with. The folders inside "Documents/Battlefield 2/Profiles" are 0001, 0002, 0003 etc. You'll have to find out which of the 0001 and 0002 is the profile you want to log into. Inside that folder there is a Video.con you should edit.

If you can't even start the game, there is a General.con somewhere (probably in the root folder (profiles)) which maybe is affecting your problem. Otherwise try editing every Video.con you have in the whole profile folder...

This is a fresh install so I don't even have those folders yet - I only have 'default' and editing that does nothing

I have tried editing every .con file I can find but I don't know the syntax for every one, like whether to put the Hz and stuff

It's either you who can't find the right settings, or it's another problem...

It's clearly me because I've had the problem since I bought this monitor and have fixed it twice. I just can't remember which one to change even though I'm sure i've tried eveyr possibility 10 million times and I'm starting to get really ****ed off

It can also be the monitor drivers. Try looking up latest drivers on the manufacturer's homepage.

Yeah, but you can still find newer drivers and hotfixes at the manufacturers website.

I don't need them if it worked last time I changed something.

                          Thanks anyway :)

So you got it working? (couldn't really figure it out from your last post)
