For my keyboard layout in FPS games I need Insert, Home, Page Up, Delete, End and Page Down -keys. However, some of these seem to be hard-coded for some actions in Battlefield 2, or are they? Is there a way I can "free" for example Home-key, so I can use it for whatever action I like, or is the action for it really hard-coded in the game?

you can fully customise the button config, if there is a button already in use that u want you have to find it and delete it. Then you can reasign it to what ever you want. -

Well, so far I have been able to bind Page Up and Page Down to the actions i want, but for Insert, Home, Delete and End the game still says "Duplicate key found in Common Controls" even though those are nowhere to be seen, unless I'm missing something :/Originally posted by MerlinComment

This is a common problem with BF2. I couldn't bind the left SHIFT key to crouch as BF2 kept telling me it was bound to another function, when it wasn't. Search the forum, as I remember some users advising on which config file you can manually edit to fix the problem.Comment

Yes, unfortunately you'll have to manually edit the controls.con file under your My Documents\Battlefield 2 profile directory.
Just make a backup of it first, have a good read through it to get used to the syntax, and then make some edits and try them out.Comment

Yeah, I found my way there and just wiped the keybindings for insert, home, delete and end. Now I can bind them to whatever I want, but another problem emerged. If I want to bind moving forward to my right mouse button, I can't bind moving backward to the End key, or any other key on the keyboard. It seems that I have to move forward and backward either by using only mouse, or by using only keyboard, not both. That's just great, I wonder what the developers were thinking when they created all these stupid restrictions.Originally posted by TalusComment

You can also buy a G15 keyboard :). It comes with extra macro keys which you are able to customize to fit your needs...Comment
