Idea: Require Username/Pass for people who want to use a certain prefix (ie clan tag)

Here's an idea for ya. What if when connecting to a public server owned by a clan that if you want to use the clan's prefix you would be prompted with a username/password?

This way people can't impersonate a clan member?

Certain prefixes would be reserved like:

Admin

So if my clan's prefix was say, '-=XX=-" then anyone who logged in to my clan's server with that prefix would be prompted for a username/password, even on a PUBLIC RANKED server.

The only problem with the above is now there are mutli-clan servers...I don't know how you'll want to deal with that, but at the very least have 1 prefix be reserved.

I doubt DICE would ever implement this, more than likely the idiots at BF2CC would. But, I did have an idea to automate some administration tasks by reverse engineering whatever it is that BF2CC does with a packet sniffer. Keep in mind that I have never administered a BF2 server so I'm not sure if this is necessary. You could create a program that monitors the chat log of a server and check for players who join with a prefix and perform whatever necessary actions if they have a clan tag. I believe admins can tell who joins and leaves a server in BF2CC judging by some kicks I've recieved before so it sounds plausible.

Sounds like a good idea, but rather pointless. Prefix stealing isnt a big problem. If someone DOES impersonate an admin/member, they still haven't got any real powers on the server, apart from scaring players by threatening to ban/kick them.

well if imposters come to the clan server its easy to solve,
give em a warning to remove it.
if they dont they get a kicked.
if they come back with it still on they get kicked again.
if they come back again they get banned an left in the ban list so they never come back to the server.

We ban people claiming to be clan members/ EA officials immediately. They get permanently banned, imposting is against BFROE.
