BF2 Crash When Anti-Alias set to 4x

Since this includes a "BF2 Crash" and hardware issues, I am not sure which forum to post... if this is the wrong one, please forgive me.

Specs:
Asus A8N-SLI Motherboard
AMD Athlon 64 X2 Dual Core 4400+
4 Gigs of RAM
nVidia BFG GeForce 7900 GTX OC 512MB GDDR3
240W Power Supply (Not a typo... Yes, I need to upgrade)
Widescreen BF2 (Awww yeah!)

Got a widescreen setup today... Everything installed fine, and working good, but I noticed when I installed the nVidia BFG GeForce 7900 GTX OC 512MB GDDR3 card, I (by default) set all the video settings to HIGH... that included Anti-Aliasing. (set to 4x).

After about 2 min. of playing single player to test everything out, my PC would just shut down completely. Just like I turned the power off.

But I set anti-aliasing back to 2x, and everything is great! I have tested this many times before posting so that I know that this * IS * the problem.

Is this a heat related issue, or is there some other setting I can use to cure this problem while still being able to use 4x anti-aliasing? I have 4 good fans in the chasis... video card is cool to the touch when I opened the case right after a few crashes... Not sure what else to think. Maybe a power issue?

Update: With Anti-Aliasing set to 2x, I was able to play a couple of rounds before it powered off... and the video card was a little hot.

Is that "240W power supply" a typo? If it's not a typo, then you seriously need to upgrade.

lol it must be a typo, it would explode with those things, as for AA problems i got some too mmy text is all wierd, i donno why and i got a nvidia card to

you could try forcing AA in the Forceware control panel. If not, do you really even need AA at your most likely high resolutions?

Surely the AA is using more power from the graphics card which is making your power supply cry like a bitch?

no doubt its power, try a 500W-600W power supply

According to retailers of that card the MINIMUM is 450W w/ 12V @ 22A.

Yeah it is to do with power consumption, For my 7800GTX I chose a 500W PSU. Im supprised your rig runs at all!!!!

ok yeh get atleast a 450 watt psu for tht card dude. tht might be causing the problem becuase ur card might not be getting enough power.

Problem solved ... the P/S I had in there was 420W, I misread the label (some of it was obscured by the case...)

Bought a new 550W supply, all is good.

The Thermaltake P/S that came with the case was crap...
