Why the admin hard on? Pony up up for a server, and you can admin it 24x7, even when it is empty!!!

Usually you have to pay to be admins in clans y'know (or that's what they do for, uh, basically every other game out there).

Not necessarily. Every clan is different. Some will usually accept public donations or pony up the cash to pay for a server. Clan members can often donate if they want or not. Some require money every month, some have sponsorships, some are donate on a volunteer basis.

The clans you describe are the ones that have not been around long and are run by 12 year olds.

Funny thing is if youre a (good)admin it will effect youre game play, you need to watch more the chat, whats going on at the airfield(tk 4 plane) exploiters/stat padders etc etc its not a easy job if you wanna do it right

Funny thing is anyone who wants to be an admin needs their head read. We merely pay to be baby sitters and for that priviledge rarely ever play a full round.

Nobody will get to be an admin for free. Ranked servers cost a lot of money and everyone chips in for it, including donations from guests. Admining takes a lot of dedication and also training. You need to know the ROE inside and out as good or even better than the people who wrote it. Contrary to popular belief from some of the threads you read about admins, you need to be mature and level headed. Admining is not about having power to do whatever you like.

For a start how old are you? Have you read and do you really understand the ROE? Do you have the finances to support a server on an ongoing monthly basis? Not just a once off here's $5 I wanna be an admin.

It doesn't have to cost you a dime to get your servers ranked. You need a company to sign EA contract then you get the software and submit the IP to EA. It will take a couple of months but it doesn't cost you a dime in hard cash.

Umm are you serious? Ranked servers are only provided by GSP's who are EA official trusted partners. You need to supply EA 10 free servers for every 100 servers you sell and you need to provide those servers before you even sell 100 servers.

However EA have shut the door now to any new GSP's wanting to become EA official trusted partner's so even if you can provide what they ask for its too late and they arne't signing anymore up.

Why do you think a ranked server costs twice as much as an unranked, if not more?

are clan server is in the banner,but!
you have to join the clan an play on a regular basie's.
it would cost £10-$20 a month through pay pal.
its a 24 slot server we use 64 player maps.
we also change the server very often to different bf2 games/addons.
its also a zero tolerance server ie we dont allow base rap's on no take flags unless you are spec-ops taken commanders toys out.
dont allow hacks/exploits/cheats/padders/mutiney or vote kicks against any PK member this cause's some problems but hey its are server we pay for it!
dont like it go play on another server.
are server is up an running 24/7.
its always full an in use.
theres also always admin on the server at the moment its set to SF ghosttown/warlord/levithan.
all admins have full access to the admin controls.
we allso have teamspeak set up to the server.
there are over 20 players in the clan 8 of those are full time loyal BF2 players

I'm very serious. We have four (three ATM change of IP#) ranked servers and they do not cost us a dime other than hardware and bandwidth. One clanmember uses his company as collateral to EA (they won't enter an agreement with private citizens).

That is possible, the last "free" ranked servers I've heard about happened maybe three months ago. I'll check and see if I can find the relevant thread (Swedish forum)

Because they use more bandwidth and the supply is limited.

Why would you want to be an admin really bad? The exploit has been taken care of. You can't benefit from being an admin in any way except kicking kids that are annoying and changing maps whenever you want.
