    Silenced Pistols

Does anybody other than me find silenced pistols to be kind of pointless? I mean, when you hit them they can still see where the shots are coming from, and the silencer seems (at least to me) to make it less accurate. Your thoughts?

People can't hear them. That's the only benefit. Just go up behind someone, pop a few in their head, and they won't even know where you were.

But I mean there's still those red hit indicators, so they can still find the general direction in which you're firing from. I guess they still have their uses, it jsut seems to me that the point isn't worth much. BTW Does the silencer actuallu affect accuracy?

In real life or in the game? In real life, yes the greatly affect the speed and accuracy of the projectile. In the game, I would assume so, but have nothing to back it up.

In the game. In real life I know it does but you know, it's BF2 lol you can't base it on real life. It jsut seems that the silenced pistol shots are less accurate than unmodified.

I like the silenced pistol more. It's just a random, personal thing. It just always felt more comfortable to be.

There is the answer. Read the paragraph under Usage

"There is no damage or accuracy difference between the silenced and regular pistols. The only real differences between the various pistol models is the “sight picture”, with the un-silenced 92FS having perhaps the best sights. But practice with any of the pistols can overcome this."

I second that, the silence pistol always felt easier to use and more accurate.

Sometimes I wear headphones when I play and I can hear lots of noises, especially the direction of fire. If someone near me is getting hit with a regular pistol I can discern which direction it is coming from and react. A silenced pistol almost eliminates that.

Point is, I bet lots of people wear headphones when they play to properly enjoy the sounds of war.

That's a good idea. I use speakers but meh that's me, I don't like headphones.

Using (good) headphones allows you to hear sounds in a full circle around you, taht even surround sound speakers can't provide. But i find unless it's necessary, using headphones for games is not as good as using (good) speakers.

I play with surround speakers. Better than headphones. You can really tell where something is.
