Well, after a trying a hundred odd different things here and there, i finally solved my stutter.
When i had stutter, i was using a AsRock K7S41GX which used a SiS chipset. On medium settings i stutter like a mofo, but on low it was sweet (But i didnt pay all this cash for extra ram and a graphics card to run it in low). Anyway, i managed to get, on the cheap, a new motherboard from eBay, just to see if it made any difference.
I got a AsRock K7NF2-RAID, which used the nForce chipset, and boom badabing, i can play on medium without any stutter, after all that hassle, it was a cheapo motherboard (I can only assume it was those cheapass SiS chipsets).
Anyway, im just posting this incase other people out there might find this usefull
