    Scoring change to stop "deathmatchers"

Is it just me or does anyone else think that the scoring system needs revising? BF2's not deathmatch, it's Conquest so why do you get the same number of points for a kill as for a flag capture? I know that if you own a lot of flags the tickets tick down for the opposing team but not fast enough to counterbalance the sheer number of kills that are going on.

So many times when I'm playing, I've had a good round with lots of caps but I'm way down the scoreboard and people with tons of kills (jet whores, etc) and pretty well nothing else end up "winning". I'm not a points whore but it would be nice be rewarded with all my caps by placing high on the scoreboard. It really feels like there's not much point capping as there are far greater rewards both in personal points and contributing to your team by killing instead of capping.

The way things are the points whores are rewarded by "winning", we may as well be playing deathmatch. If the points were changed for a flag cap to 5, surely that would encourage people to cap more than kill? I know there's no way in hell it'll ever happen, it's just a thought though.

This has been discussed a good bit, but you have a point. :) Thing is, the are people at the top are not really "winning" they just have more points. I have seen quite a few times the top two scrores go to the losing team. I focus on flags, and usually end up getting quite a few kills in the process. I got 15 flag caps in one round last night :)

HPC ran with Objective points nabbing first place, and while k/d reatio was still important, it couldnt get you first except for on DM type maps.

But at the end of each round, everyone was recognized for the extremes.

Most kills, most caps, least deaths, most assists, etc.

Maybe EA doing something like this would get you the recognition your looking for?

Then youll get flag whores, who will probably do things like C4 you so they get all the points for a flag capture, thereby making a new thing to ruin your fun. A few different modes other than just conquest would be nice, but its still fine the way it is.

          Forgive my ignorance, what's HPC?

Recognition is part of it but not the whole thing. I do like to win, I do get the warm fuzzy feeling when I top the leaderboard but it's more about how people play the game where quite often it feels more like deathmatch.

I hate to bitch and moan about this because I feel that all I seem to do is bitch and moan, it's just that BF2 is SUCH a good game, it's SOO much fun and with a few tweaks (and bug fixes) it'd be perfect.

me and many others play it as deathmatch with a few flag caps here and there. nothing wrong with that at all. when the game turns into a flag capping fest, like songuha stalemate, the game gets so ****ing boring and turns into musical flags, back and forth between ones you took previously ZZZzzzz

yeah you've got a good point...some flags are wll defended and the best way to get points ..is "deathmatch mode"..take karkand for instance if youre marines why bother to take a flag..just stay near the usmc arty and snipe away as the mec try to advance..theres no incentive to cap..im not blaming the players ..i do it myself..if there was some incentive ..i would naturally advance beyond the arty encampments and try my luck...overall a change to the point system is warrented
