hello all, i bought this game after playing the demo for months on end finally. problem #1, demo will not un-install, no matter what i do or try it makes my computer freeze.
anyway, no biggy - install the new bf2.... about 4 servers to choose from. so i play for about a month to get the hang of the new maps and what not and decide to update
problem #2 no matter what i do, version 1.2 and 1.3 will not work, they download and halfway inbetween freeze and (program not responding) error comes up. (1.2 update, and i tried 1.3 full)
problem #3 - after i choose to end the program, i bf2 doesn't work period, i need to re-install the full game (PITA!!!:evil: )
problem #4 - after a few attempts of installing from different sources, I FINALLY get a 1.3 version to download. so im all excited and proceed to play the game and of course i get the dreaded static mesh error, or the lightNING error. (yes lightning not lighting) ---- so i come online and check out the forum, i read post after post page after page, and NOTHING WORKS. i copy paste - i deleted, i tried everything. i just cant get this mother f'n game to work on my computer. my friend bought the game and installed it and the patch first try NO PROBLEM!!!! on a damn APPLE laptop!!!!
i have a alienware area 51, tons of ram, ati radeon 9700 video card, brand new nec monitor. i shouldn't be having these problems! playing v1.1 never even bothered me, except i have to refresh for 15 minutes at a time to get into 1 of the 4 servers i have to choose from. im totally stumped. im thinking about reformating and going totally from scratch. can anyone help me? im loosing my mind. its not even the fact that i just spend $50 on this game, i love it and want to play it everyday and im held back by EA's damn problems.

and yes, i have read every shaders, lighting,lightning,static mesh thread on this forum basically. nothing has worked. why does the patch freeze when its installing? HELP!!!!1
oh, and btw i only have bf2. NO SF ETC. i just want BF2
