Problem with patches

i installed bf2 the other day (yes im a bit slow) and anyway i could play fine online but couldnt find any ranked servers on the 1.0 version

anyways i then installed the 1.12 patch and this message appeard:

"this server only allows players with unmodified content to join. revert your version of BF2 to the current officaial version"

and i had same version marked in the filter thingo

so then i installed the 1.2 patch and the same thing

what should i do?

Either try reinstalling or update punkbuster manually. Although it sounds like when you patched it missed a couple of files.

Install the latest full patch, 1.3.

I don't agree, he should try to get an earlier version going first. If I could advise against any patch, it would be 1.3 as it causes the most headaches for people.

There are very few now. Buy quite a lot on 1.22, that probably the most solid BF2 version.

Did you completely uninstall Bf2 before repatching?

And can you find no servers at all on 1.0? Itd just be nice to know if the game runs at all for you before patching, that way you can eliminate a general incompatibility with the game or just a patching issue.

i can play online with 1.0 but couldnt find any ranked servers...so im reinstalling now and trying again...if it dont work guess i'll just have to stick with the un-ranked servers:|:

Make sure you do a manual uninstall and delete the BF2 folder from "my documents" first.

yeah it was on my external HD and the whole folder is gone

Well, possibly data transfer speeds when you load the game, when you install the game, and when you patch the game. Some players have run it from an external hard drive, but I wouldn't recommend it. Can you try it on your main hard drive? Also the game likes the patch to be on the same drive when you install it.

our main drive is really small so really i have no option but to install it on the External, unless it delete a few gig of stuff!
