      My friend was having long load times, turns out his hard drive was failing. Warranty replaced it (7200 SATA 8mb Maxtor). New one still has problems.

            I find when i first start playing VCD takes long, but after that VCD takes about 5 seconds for all other games. Ive got a basic 160gig 7200rpm ide harddrive.

              my Sata gives me almost perfect loadtimes only takes a few mins compared to my old machine that took almost 5mins, im happy for the time being

                Yes, I bought a new SATA hard disk and the Verifying Client Data thing is way faster (the old one was a ATA133 7200 rpm HD).

                I am now part of the first "spawn wave" (Athlon 64 3800+, ASUS Radeon X1600, 2GB RAM)

                  I got a new hard drive with my new comp, and while load times are not lighting fast, they're like 30-45 seconds where they used to be around 120.
