Battlefield 2 wont start now, used to work.

Ok so i get down playing some bf2, exit. I come back hours later to start up bf2 to come to find it goes to a black screen and just sits there. This is after a year of playing with no problems. and suggestions? Im gonna shut down the comp and reinstall 1.3 patch...any help is appreciated..thanks

I had the same issue. Here are some things I tried and some things suggested (in order, use in succession if each step doesnt work)
-Full reinstall of BF2, download full 1.3 patch from a different location, attempt install of that
-Check all drivers to make sure they are updated
-Run memtest to check your RAM has no errors
-Run a hard drive diagnostic (google search will find one for you) to check no corruption on hard drive
-Windows XP reinstall (or whatever OS you use)
-Check all hardware components, subsitute with other components if available, this goes for RAM, HDD, Graphics Card, and power supply
-Buy new PC (worked for me in the end)

But basically patch 1.3 is a dog, runs fine for some, causes headaches for others. If you cant get it running using the least expensive options listed, you might have to wait till the next patch due next month sometime.

I'm experiencing the same problem, I played fine yesterday but today it just doesn't work. Black screen, and when I alt tab to windows and I go back to BF2 it works but the screen is all messed up with red outlines on text and menus. I have no clue wth happened here.

i fixed it...

delete your my documents bf2 folder and reinstall the 1.3 patch
