Played some Battlefield 2 yesterday and I had to disconnect from the server to reboot my router so that the other computer in the network could access the Internet (well, another thing that's wrong with the computer I guess).
After the router had been restarted I logged in again and connected to the server I played on previously. During the loading "Optimizing shaders" came up for no reason what so ever. Waited for the loading to become completed and noticed that all settings were on High, I mean everything! Pretty, but a bit laggy (why I don't play on those settings).
Played several rounds on the server including a (re)loading of the map. Settings were still on High. Played a couple of rounds after the load before I quit (wanted to see Formula 1 from Canada). I went to video options to see which settings that were active - all settings where at the level they were on previously, so WTF? Played with settings that didn't match the ones chosen in the options? That's a new one.
Oh, and the nade-launcher is utter crap, several times I got it to land ontop of the enemy without killing them. Saw the pretty explosion on them but nothing happend. The netcode is really poor in this game, hope they do somehting about it in the 1.4 patch.
