connection to the server was lost. HERE IS AN ANSWER!

ADMINS, LEASE MAKE THIS A STICKY

    Hey Folks,

I kept getting this lame error after about 8-10 minutes into a game so I wondered what it was. I knew that I had set Punkbuster to check every 500 seconds so I tried updating it manually and voila! no more lost connections. Let's see how long my luck holds up but I really think this will solve it. Pinkbuster is supposed to update itself automatically but it seems like it is NOT doing so, therefore I'm now doing it myself. Try it out boys and girls and let me know what you think.

Ill try it and see how it works, although I have a hunch some of my problems are from my router.

I tried this but didnt work for me. Neither did reinstalling the patch I downloaded from the link EA support gave me. I am at a loss what to do.

          Specs would help.

Also, how often do you defrag? Virus check? Spam remove? maintain your pc? I do all of this 4 or 5 times a week and although it is a bit excessive, it helps in keeping B2 errors to the minimum. Cheers :)

I really hope this works, and if it does. God Bless You! Though I AM an Epicureanist/Atheist, so that would be a controversial compliment. PLEASE STICKY THIS ADMINS. I like the word 'sticky'. What's brown and sticky? A STICK!!!

                I have no idea.

By the way everyone, I did say it is AN answer but I will never say it is THE answer. It has helped me so far but it may not work for everyone.

                Cheers :)

how to change your PB settings:
while connected to a server, open console and type in
                  pb_sleep 500 <press return>
                  pb_writecfg <press return>

That's for the cue to update while PB is running. It's a good idea to do this though. Also, make sure you update it manually BEFORE starting up B2

                      Just an FYI,
I tried this update with no success. I started from ground zero, formatting HD's RAID-0, XPP with updates no AV or 3rd party apps. Just BF2 +EF all to 1.3 with no success. Tried with or without router. tested connected with DSLreports.com getting 6 meg downstread and like 380k up. 2Gig RAM, 6800gs vid, 3200+ processor. This problem seems to be more prevailing now that 1.3 patch is out. I will try and change the pb_sleep and pb_writecfg setting and post results.

As I said, it is An answer but it's not THE answer. in anycase, many thanks for the feedback. That has got to be the best test report I've seen in some time. With this info, it's a definite bet that the problem lies on EA's side. EA DO SOMETHING YOU MORONS!!!!

Folks, just thought I'd let you know...

I have been manually updating PB before every B2 session and since I've started doing that I have not lost my connection. So far so good

Since i've got a wireless connection, the connection was lost when I came in the server. I noticed that this only happened when I was in servers with VOIP activated. So I tried to deactivate the mic in the audio options screen, and now I can play every server again. Maybe this should be tried to.

                              download this:

much easier way to update for noobs

add bf2, and then check for updates, walla.

I've been getting CI constantly for the last couple of days, and I've just ran the program, and it told me PB needed an update, so it may well be the problem. Off to give it a bash
