    X1600PRO with BF2?

    Hi there!

I've recently bought a new HiS X1600PRO 256mb turbo IceQ bla bla bla....
When I first got it and tried it, single player worked fine, but it crashed to a black screen while playing mutliplayer. But after a while, singleplayer wasn't working anymore. So...

Now I've formatted my computer. When I install the latest driver from HiS, I reboot, and when I come into the windows log in window a strange thing happens. The colors appear misplaced and the whole screen is totally "blurred". The mouse is only moveable in one direction and after like 5 secs, it's totally freezed. I have tried with every type of driver, old ones, new ones and original ones, all of them are like this.
NOTE: This is actually not a problem, because after some restart I can come into Windows again.
Anyways, after some restarts I could get into windows and make a fresh BF2 install without patching it. I go into a single player game using an offline account and POOF! After some mintues of playing, it crashes to a black screen.

I've read that X1600PRO isn't supported by BF2. Is this true? Does it matter?

    Thanks in advance

Please guys, I really need an answer today or tommorow!

The supported video card list is inaccurate and was printed before the x1600 was around, that is not the problem.

Are you having any problems with other games.

Yea, supported card list was out before the 7800series was even out, so it only went rom like radeon 9000 series to X850XTPE for ATi, but allthe newer cards are still supported.

I haven't tried any other games... What should I do? What can be the problem? I've formatted now again, and I'm installing drivers (older) with CCC 6.1 (catalyst control center).

        What do you suggest?

BTW, Just want to make it clear for you that this is actually NOT a CTD, it's more a "CTBS" (lol, crash to black screen?)...

I also want to say that I added some info to the main post, read it.

I figured out it was a hardware problem. I tried numerous times reformatting and installing the latest driver, even sometimes older drivers, and nothing worked.
For the third time in 2 months I'm now getting a new card .

its always possible its the hardware, but it could be drivers, or some thign we dont know about. do you have the chipset drivers installed for your computer?

also, if it janks up at windows log in it could be bad hardware i believe, dont throw out 200$ just yet unless you can get your money back for the x1600

I will get my money back for the X1600.
I don't know what you mean with "chipset" drivers? The AGP drivers? When I tried to install them, it said that if I was running WinXP it wouldn't install them. I gues it wasn't necessary.
What hardware is bad, in your opinion?

chipset drivers are the motherboard drivers, try look for each of the latest drivers for ur mobo.

                    OR, update your BIOS.

stick with a 256mb if it costs you extra to go to the 512mb card. there is veary little to no preformance gain in going to the 512mb card becuase it only has a 128bit bus.
