    Re: enemy spotted and other Bad Info

    When I am commander, which is most of the time now, I have the UAV going in front of the biggest battle area, so my tropps only have to look at the mini-map to see where the enemy is....or type "M" to see larger pic. I only use the "SCAN" function, just before I call in an ARTY strike, so I can see enemies all over.

    For the record, I have played with the sound completely OFF for a long time....I got tired of all the foreign voices, and meaningless information...

      When I cammand I try to Be an Egineer and Fix my own equiptment but sometimes when you do this you start doing this expecially if the other team base raping you it takes away from what you are supposed to do. Command.

      What gets my goat is Commanders using vehicles and fighting on High Capacity servers. Sure sign that team is going to lose that round.

      It's good to use the scan to Spot Spec ops comming to raid your assets and also to find snipers. it is a useful tool if you don't spam spot messages.

        Re: enemy spotted and other Bad Info

        First off you can't spot enemies after a Sat Scan. If they're still a red dot spotting them will only make the voice, however, it may blip on the team's radar for an instant or not at all. So commander quit making :censored: noise.

        Secondly health or ammo is not displayed to the commander unless your a medic or support. Medics and support get the ability to identify how much health or ammo everyone on his radar has. {9thInf}Padre the only way a question mark should show up is if you:
        1. miss the target (Sometimes the overhead view isn't exactly overhead)
        2. Or the target died

          Re: enemy spotted and other Bad Info

          Many of you are scratching it but there is still a big miss here.

          The scan function lights up all bad guys including SF and it does give a slight visual difference for recently killed enemies [static red dot and more intense and defined circle.] If they're red but then jump out their vehicle then their red spot goes immediately away.

          The question mark comments are mostly wrong and here is the key element to manually spotting;

          The commander has to wait about a full second after the scanned fuzzy red dots go away before he can spot them and have it 'stick'/ work. If you spot a currently fuzzy red dot, it will give a specific target audible such as "enemy armor spotted" <or> "enemy sniper spotted" but NO! target icon will appear in anyone's minimap hence it is a pointless call out. If there is no actual target or the commander misses the spot horribly then a red question mark and the genaric; "enemy forces spotted" audible goes out.

          You have to wait till the scan is done and your spotting target stops showing fuzzy red [plus 1 second.] Otherwise you are just spamming targets with no icon and wasting everyone's time.

          Commanding 201;

          Always try to scan before dropping UAV in case there is a juicy UAV target out there. The Scan and UAV time closely and it's worth waiting for the scan first even if the UAV is available.

          Keep track of single stragglers/ squads on the map but first deploy the UAV after the scan for the greater good of the team. Drop arty if needed as well [especially on a deep group making for a flag.] then goto the map hotspots and full zoom on where the target was and manually spot them long after the red highlights are gone.

          If a red dot was camped at a friendly flag to cap it then no need to zoom as you can simple right click / spot on the flag to light them up.

          Notify a deep team / vehicle of a close hot spot. Keep track of the squads that actually play to intercept deep threats.

          IMO the first job of the commander is to prevent flanking as he is the only one with the full map view in detail. Drop supplies where they can be used safely [alleys and around corners versus the middle of the road.] Arty smartly and use a good defensive kit in the backfield in case you have to take matters into your own hands while waiting for back-up.

            It might have helped if there had been some sort of official guide as to how the commander stuff worked. I have a pretty good idea of how most of it works, but that's just from actually doing it and figuring things out as I went. Never underestimate the value of a decent set of instructions............

              Why don't you simply kill the spec ops guy if he is still around and then drop a supply crate on it?

              I had to re-read this a number of times, so I'm not sure what your saying but I do know that when the commander right clicks and spots a red dot everybody can see it on their mini-map. No need to wait a second. Besides if you wait for the dot to be gone, you've lost him.

                you are most definitely wrong
                go test it
                I did
                I rt clicked every red dot I saw on a scan as soon as I saw it
                and asked all my clan guys on ventrilo where the dots were
                and they ALL saw them correctly !

                  i would just like to point out that if a plane,or helicopter is flying very high.
                  commander may be able to spot it, but it would not show up on the minimap
