When You Wish Upon a Star...

Have you ever wished for certain features in BF2? True features, I mean, not just "I wish this damn game wouldn't crash to desktop every five minutes!" or "I wish that spawncamping ratbastard would choke on a fruit loop and die!" Well, it's far too late in the game's cycle, but these are a few little additions that I think would make the game so much better:

1.) Engineers don't get knives. Instead, they swing that giant wrench around like a skull cracker, and bust up on the the enemy.

2.) Said wrench could be used to attack vehicles. "Huh?" Come on, think about it... if the engineer can fix bombs, bullets, and missile impacts by turning a bolt, why can't he pull off pieces of a vehicle, too, and drain the health instead of giving it. I want to see a swarm of engineers descend on some LAV on the bad side of Karkand and steal hubcaps.

3.) RPG-7. I want it in Vanilla BF2. It's in SF, for those of you who've never played, and it is the most awesome AT rocket in the game. Yeah, it's unguided, so it can't get "super-shots" into the treads as easily, and its range is limitted by the parabolic arc, BUT IT'S FIRE AND FORGET, BABY! Seriously, I would sacrifice my DAO-12 for it, and I luvs[sic] my DAO-12.

4.) When baddies are shocked to death by the defibulators, they should dance the funky chicken for a few moments, twisting and arcing in electric bolts. After they die, they should kick once in a while, just to make people freak the hell out when the dead dude jumps.

5.) Insurgent Special Forces in Warlord should not get C4. Instead, they should wear C4, and have a plunger to self-detonate. If they're in a car, they can blow up said car instead, as if it had been covered in five packs of C4.

6.) The SAS should have the L96A1, not the M24.

7.) Hell, the Marines should have the M40A1, not the M24, but at least they have a gun from the right country.

8.) The code should be optimized for desktop shutdown. When I close the game by hitting quit, it takes a minute for my computer to stabilize. However, when the game just up and decides to crash, it's closed and done in two seconds flat. Whatever code is used in the CTD Option should be applied to when you actually click to quit.

Dangit, I got off of features!

Anywho, these are my little changes, which, aside from the last snide remarks (#7 and #8), could all be implemented really easily, since the items are all in the game, or in expansions, and #5 is what most SpecOps do anyway.

One of the few posts of this type I actually enjoyed and agreed with. Awesome write-up.

While all those features would be nice to have (especially #2), ea would never add them because it could possibly make the game better, and they don't want that.

In reference to the 2nd one, who TF is going to stand next to an enemy piece of armor and dismantle it? It's tough enough trying to throw 2 or 3 packs of C4 on one to blow it sky high.

In BF:V the engineers had a "torch".

Battlefield Vietnam was awesome. It was sweet. The engineers in BF2 should have torches.

Re: When You Wish Upon a Star...

                      1.) Not much point

2.) I like this, but rather for engineer, make it for knives, to pop tires or cut the tracks on a tank, so at least the classes without any AT capabilities can take out or at least cause damage to armor. ( Or maybe if you can jump onto the top knife a hatch and reveals the guys head so you can shoot him. Or dropp grenades in the hatch) I am sick of not being able to do anything to tanks as 4/7 of the kits ))

3.) True, it is very usefull, This should be a switchable version for all eastern armies, and they should include the M72 LAW for western armies. Light and looks cool, they do alot more damage to armor too and are less likely to be used as anti infantry weapons.

4.) Haha would be awesome, so people can laugh at the guy, but not really realistic or nessasarry.

5.) Nah, if anything they should just have homemade style bombs but working in the same fashion, but doesnt matter much ( if anything needs to be changed, give them AK-47's instead of 101's, same for rebels, as its more realistic, maybe give them a mosin nagant sniper rifle.)

                      6.) Definately.

7.) Yeah either that or replace the M11-87 (not even the right gun, its a remmington 870) for a winchester 1300.

8.) I guess but not like its a big deal.

Also they need to change the SCAR-H ammo count to 20 and increase the damage. And increase mag count of jackhammer to 10 (correct).

Would also be nice to have a BFvietnam style character look, chosing 1 out of 2 skins and a choice of 2 heads for each.

And a more open ended unlock system, letting us use almost every gun in the game apart from guns from the theatre that you are already playing in at that given time.

You know I love the idea of #1, 2, and 5. The engineers trashing the treads on an enemy tank would be so cool. I have been secretly wishing for the engineers wrench to be able to be used as a mellon popper too. Damn that would be the shizzle!

I have an even better idea for the wrench. How about throwing it? It could do some damage, but it would even be better for distracting snipers and/or tanks and other vehicles.

It would have to make the most UNGODLY clanking, so loud it would deafen anyone with EAX on.

Sniper: "Okay... lining up the shot... almost... come to poppa... almost... almo-"

                            Wrench: CLANGIDY CLANG CLANG!

Sniper: "What the- oh God, my ears are bleeding! Sweet Jesus!" *falls off roof*

Well, I would, just to watch the armor slabs fall off, the wheels roll away, and the turret slide off the back, leaving some jackass holding a pivot steering system like he was in some looney tunes episode.

Heck, even better, the Engineers could just swap out the enemy's tires for Firestones, and the enemy would randomly die from some high-speed blowout.

                            Kadunk.
