    Re: Invisible Wall

My advice is to stay away from those areas I made this same post back in November 2005 http://www.totalbf2.com/forums/showthread.php?t=38287
I did include screen shots but they no longer show up in the thread.

        Re: Invisible Wall

The invisible walls on certain porches etc happens because the game doesnt calculate what you run into based on the actual geometry of the visible static model - there's an invisible, lower poly-count collision mesh on each object that helps the engine run more efficiently.

The problem described here, though, is more likely caused by an odd pixel on the heightmap.raw file. This file holds the terrain information, and if you get a bright pixel on the edge of the image where the primary terrain meets up with the surrounding terrain you can wind up with a very slim, very tall "pyramid" that the engine wont even render properly. Being on the edge, the developer may not notice it. So, in effect, you're crashing into the ground as far as the engine is concerned.
