I've played tons of war games such COD 1 and 2, counterstrike, delta force. graphics wise this game is better than all but COD2. the game play is just different. not better not worse. gun selection is cool. the artilery is the stupidest thing I've ever seen in any game. having some idiot sit 20 miles away form the action and attack me with artillery every time I spawn is just dumb. hitting people (for me at least. not for others) is extremely hard. I can't hit anyone and if I get into a battle chances are I will lose. how do you all aim? it doesn't matter if i aim for people's head, body, feet..it takes an entire clip to get them the few times I have gotten them. the sniper rifle at even 40 meters I can't seem to hit anyone. I've tried aiming high, low, dead on...I lose. The vehicles are cool although I'm still learnign to fly the planes and choppers. I am getting pretty good with the AT stuff. haha.

You can't run into a battle and fire off a full automatic and expect it to hit. See how the reticule changes size? When it's bigger, you're less accurate. Try to be stealthy and lie down somewhere out of the way, and ambush people. You'll soon find that if you run into a battle and fire haphazardly, you will get shot. Crouching and going prone increases accuracy.Originally posted by rha600how do you all aim? -

Re: A n00b's take on the game
sniper rifle aim dead on always. unless it's like 200 meters out or more you will have to drop. not that much though. You know those notches on the reticule for the scope? well don't pay any attention to those. They're useless. When I say aim high at that far away, i mean like about the height of their head (just a tiny bit more) at that distance. I think it's a little rare that you will be shooting people that far away anyways. Other than that you just have to learn how to lead. Which is the hard part. Dipends on which direction there going will determine the speed they are going. It's all different, especially when it gets far away like 250 meters. But when you pull off a head shot while a guy is driving a buggy, it makes you feel good inside. lol.
as for learning how to aim. well if you play as much games as you say, you must realize you just have to play more to learn how to aim. Take the guns and shoot at a wall. Step further back and shoot it again. You will see where the bullets hit. Try single shots, three round, full auto. Whatever it is. How ya, the pistol the the most accurate (besides sniper of course) keep that in mind.Comment

Re: A n00b's take on the game
That's because you're used to spraying bullets everywhere and expect to kill people. Welcome to game where you have to work at killing someone.Originally posted by rha600hitting people (for me at least. not for others) is extremely hard. Shoot in bursts when far away, only go full auto when you're very close to the person. Anticipate hotzones where you're likely to get killed. And your game will be a lot more enjoyable.
Right now, you're just cannon fodder for us. Thanks!Comment

Re: A n00b's take on the game
You can't expect to hit with all bullets, and you certainly won't make kills with every encounter you make. Even if you do everything right, you will still die 1/4 times in the round.
Use short bursts when firing. Use prone position and use cover. Try and aim for head in close combat and body over long distances. Work within the limitations of the kit you are using.Comment

Re: A n00b's take on the game
thanks for the replies. I also have to say that the community for this game is by far the best. I've never seen people share info and help people out as much as with BF. I'm in a clan for COD2 and of course we help each other but this is a totally open forum and there's great info all over.
as for the prone, yes i've been doing that. I'm still kind of used to kneeling in counterstrike but I suck so bad right now that's not even helping me. haha. the funny part is that I take snap shots at people running between buildings with the barret and I hit people more doing that than I do with people just laying still.Comment

Re: A n00b's take on the game
The reason you are having trouble hitting people is in COD, MOH and previous versions of BF (BF1942, BFV) you hit where you aim. In BF2 they decided to make the game noob friendly, so they introduced what is called the random cone of fire.
Stand 20 feet from a wall and fire a few bursts separate into it. You'll see that the bullets spread randomly in all directions, you'll also see that occassionally 3 rounds of a 5 round burst don't even register (your shooting blanks). COD and previous versions used recoil effect, so the more you fired the more recoil (upwards) you had and the harder it was to control. So the better skilled your were, the more accurate your shots.
Just finished playing BF1942 a few minutes ago after not playing it for about 2 years, and I must say it is nice hitting where you aim for a change.
The random cone of fire can get very frustrating, but the noobs like it because they don't know any different.
Tomorrow I'm going to stick in my BFV cd

Re: A n00b's take on the game
Battlefield 2 is more of a team based game with capping flags and all then COD.. as far as I remember you cant cap flags in that game, I could be wrong... but thats where artillery comes in hand. It helps out the team.Originally posted by rha600I've played tons of war games such COD 1 and 2, counterstrike, delta force. graphics wise this game is better than all but COD2. the game play is just different. not better not worse. gun selection is cool. the artilery is the stupidest thing I've ever seen in any game. having some idiot sit 20 miles away form the action and attack me with artillery every time I spawn is just dumb. hitting people (for me at least. not for others) is extremely hard. I feel the same way in COD - I cant hit sh1t... and I always loose 1v1 unless I come up behind someone, then I have a chance.. or if they're wounded, but in Battlefield I pwn 70%+ that I come on 1v1.
For hiting people with the sniper rifles, use the m24 unless you unlock the L96a1, they're the most accurate. The m24 is the USMC sniper rifle.
For aiming watch out for recticle bloom, you should be used to this from playing other games. Shoot in bursts. Crouching and prone give you the best accuracy. Moving is the worst accuracy, but the two best guns for shooting while walking are the f2000 and the ak-101, imo. The ak-101 is the MEC's assault and medic gun.
Hope that helps. I'd play medic or assault as a noob.Comment
