How to evade jet attacks (in an AC)?

OK; after some practice I now fly a tad bit more decently with a gunner (used to solo). Still, the question remains...

How do I evade incoming jets? I usually flare and do a barrel roll. This still takes me some life. This is OK for noob pilots, but any skilled jet whore will kill me in 4-5 turns. What is pretty annoying. Because I'll have to spawn again, and that's even worse:

I simply can't evade jets while taking off! Flares are useless. The only thing I can think of doing is slide to the side, but still dangerous and usually I the jet kills me before I can even think of doing it.

    Any tips?

Best chance is just to get in the air as soon as possible. Luck of the draw wether you get hit or not.. No stalling, so you can do any evasive moves from there. With practice you will not have to spawn again.

That will happen to most of us.

When in the air I use my flares, turn, twist, and do anything other move I can make to try and shake the plane.

When on the ground trying to take off, every once-in-a-while spinning while taking off I avoid one missile, maybe. Taking off is hard when you have a jet on you, like fakesound said, just try to get up ASAP.

My best tactic is to constantly fly straight at the opposing jet. The first pass he'll usually be behind you or to the side, so you flare, then kind of stall out vertically and fall to one side or the other, and the jet should hopefully blow past you without scoring too much of your life. After that, turn to face the jet and accellerate towards him ... he'll turn around but you'll be much to close for him to attack you effectively; do a quick turn and head straight at him again. Veteran pilots will break off immediate pursuit and attack another target when they see you're making it much harder to kill you - this gives you a bit of time to either repair and rearm or go attack an important ground target until the jet makes his inevitable return. If it's a noob pilot ... well, him flying around essentially in a figure eight should make him an easy target for ground AA or your own jets, which should then have time to take off.

skilled jet whore? ..... 4-5 turns?.. lol

What I do normally is like a barrel roll + flares, or this little flat spin thing... that seems to work good..

Just do any type of flip combination...

but all those things.. they only really help evade the cannons. Theres really nothing you can do other than release flares for the missles.

If your team is any good (ie you playing with some clan mates) simply get someone in a jet to engage him, should give you time to get away

My favourite method is to crank the heli over on its side, pull back to do a quick 180 degree turn. If they are still locking on a do a 360 deg turn.

My other favourite way is something I call the bullfighter move. Plane is coming from behind say, I do a 180 deg turn to face the plane and then just like a bullfighter with a cape I taunt them and do a reverse 180 deg turn. Only downside is they can ram you sometimes but its a fun move. If you have a switched on gunner who has flown with me before they know I may do this trick so they are ready to fire off a tv guided missile. Planes are like wtf when he gets tv'ed.

Skilled jet pilots usually take me down with gun only: switched to bomb, no missle lock = no alert to me until i start to get hit; they fly at very low speed to easy correct their aim on my evasive manouvers... but that happens when your team isn't covering the air with friendly jets!

For the rest: when u get engaged (by missle) or being fired by the gun, i see where the jet is coming from, i fast slide on a side and release flares (i release it even if i didn't engaged by missles, because some skilled pilots switch to them at last second), then i complete a large rotation to have the jet into my front view, from now on i follow the jet giving him to my gunner view, waiting (eventually) him back, to shot it down with TV missle ...but that's depend upon your gunner.

Oh yeah... "Skilled pilot" means the "Above average pub pilot".
I've had some guys switching to bomber mode and shooting me down before I see it coming =[

Re: How to evade jet attacks (in an AC)?

if theyre behind me and its quite late ill pull a v tight 180 so their guns will usually miss and i get closer to them and then they've gone past me in no time, and then if theyre annoying me again and again ill get up high and have face offs with them... as someone said the bullfighter lol

firing 8hellfire missles towards them head on usually gets them once or kills them or at least makes them think twice about coming again, or even tv but ive found firing off all your hellfires usually scares them a bit even if you miss.

[should add tho] a decent pilot can take out choppers in like 4seconds just with their guns quite annoying

If im on the carrier trying to take off in a heli and a jet comes to baserape I usually jump out because that will destroy the missle lock and most of the time keeps you alive to run away and repair.

The best thing to avoid a jet that is constantly doing runs to get you is either to stay near AA or just to go to another section of the map. Unless you get Q-Spotted, the jet wont know where to go. Also, if you know a jet is coming - do a complete 90 degree turn and start losing altitude. That usually will cause missle miss and its harder to use the autocannon.

If your a good gunner or have a good gunner you can try and TV missle the plane, thats always fun and you get a 'wtf?! OMG hax' from the noob j-10 pilot.

It isn't the skilled jet jockeys that give me headaches. It is the ones who think the jet is merely a manned missile whose sole purpose is ramming copters. Even worse when they're on my team, lol.

Just like most other places, if you're the fastest mover, it is your responsibility to avoid running into the slower ones.
