HELP using BF2:SF please?! EA = useless

here are my messages to EA, i have been on the phone and back and forth via they're junk support system.

if anyone on here could please help me out, i would be extremely greatful.

First:

I have yet to beable to play Special Forces online; The servers show up in the list in red text, and after trying to connect it says I do not have the maps ( although i see the folder names in battlefield2\mods\bf2\levels

I have tried uninstalling ALL patches/installs of eruo force, special forces, base battlefield 2, and reinstalling in every imaginable order, i have called tech support and was told to reinstall in the order of Bf2, special forces, then the 1.3 Bf2 patch. I have done so with the same result.

I am extremely disappointed in my purchase, and dont know what to do.. i would really like to play this game, but i have wasted hours on end trying to get it to work.

Now:

i have continued to uninstall/reinstall patches as well as bf2 base and special forces, they are both current to the 1.3 patch, and now the servers show up white in the list (normal) but when trying to join the game just crashes.

I have had very simular problems but i did manage to get everything working in the end. Heres how i would approach your problem with what ive learnt.

First of all get BF2 working again, do this by following the intructions Here

Reboot PC ( Turn PC completly off and start again ) then defragment your HDD

Install BF2 again and use the Full 1.3 patch to get you going.

Reboot

Try and join some servers that you know are up to date.

If you get to play then atleast you know that you have something to work off .


If you cant join them d/l the full 1.3 patch from a different source and try all the steps again untill you can play 1.3 BF2 with no problem.

Install SF which should also install the 1.1 patch.

Reboot

Reinstall the full 1.3 patch again.

Reboot
