Need help with certain effect I'm trying to create

Don't know if this is even possible within Vegas but here goes....

I want to take 2 video clips and have them overlap eachother...but here is the catch, I'm trying to make it look like the clips are flashing in and out between eachother. So...in my best guess, if I were able to strip every even numbered frame from clip 1 and every odd numbered frame from clip 2...put one on top of the other...each successive frame would bounce back and forth between the two clips.

any ideas on how to make this happen?

Not sure if I understand but how about just changing the opacity?

If I had to do that by hand on every frame I'd climb atop a tower and start picking off people with an AK-47 lol.

Think of it like this:

1=Clip 1
2=Clip 2

so the result in frames would look like this:

1 2 1 2 1 2 1 2 1 2 1 2 1 2 1 2 1 2 1 2 1 2 1 2 1 2 1 2 1 2 1 2 1 2 1 2 1 2 1 2

i think i know what u mean, ive dont that too, you mean like in the Movie Man on Fire? they use that a lot, try this

You have ur first clip, then overlap the second one maybe about halfway, or less, now when you run out of it put in the flash to color envolope and build a flash to when it ends and do that with the other clips, get it?

so pretty much what u are doing is builing flashes between each clips

I understand what you're saying, but I don't think there's a shortcut to do it. Frame -by-frame seems to be the answer. At least in Vegas. Perhaps there's a plug-in, but I don't know what the effect is called.

you ever seen the movie Man on Fire? they use that alot, where one clip is overlapped on the other and they flash in and out and start a new one
