On the SF expansion, if i were to go and buy it today, does it come with the patch installed already, or would i have to go to ea or wherever and download the 280 mb patch?

after installing SF you need to install the 1.3 patch from EA.
I would install the full 438mb patch."Crunch's First Officer"

I hve the same question, I bought SF then uninstalled it at the 1.2 patch, so if I were to install it now, i would have to use the 1.3 Full, and that wouldn't affect my BF2 game?Comment

Not going to affect your game. it is a multi-use patch for all version of BF2. So if you install it after you have already installed 1.3, go back and install 1.3 again just to make sure.Comment
