Need help with FRAPS converting

I recorded with FRAPS but the files are way tooo big, so I downloaded the suggested VirtualDub to convert to normal DivX.

But each time I try to convert it says "Error with the codec. Cannot convert"

the only thing that works is to convert it to MPEG, but why can I convert it to DivX ?

If you have winxp, just convert it with the built in Windows Movie Maker. It's not a bad movie editor for first time users either, it's all drag and drop basically.

and it will convert them really small, and it will lose minimal quality

Have you downloaded divx?

Why not try XviD for codec. And use VirtualDub Mod, it's far more flexable then VirtualDub.

If u want to make a movie in Windows Movie Maker and keep the size low u dont have to give up quality. When your saving the movie file, scroll to "other" under movie quality, then below that goto the option that says 2 mpb or mbp, I think.
