Alright I know how to take off in an airplane but what I want to know, is how do you gain altitude before you move forward? Ive seen this done in Gulf of Oman where the plane is right next to the end of the carrier on the US side. The pilot then goes straight up really high and then goes forward in the air without having to use a runway. How do you do this?

Re: Airplane Takeoff Question
Do you mean VTOL? Or do you mean a takeoff, that is straight up?
Because I can explain how to do the second one.Comment

Re: Airplane Takeoff Question
Alright yeah, to take off vertically, it's really easy. But people just don't have any common sense.
Basically, when you get in the jet.. you will hear the engine start up... wait until it gets to its max. RPMs and then start putting the throttle up all the way. When you know the jet is going to start moving in like 1 second, just pull the nose up all the way so that you are vertical.
Then on the way up, pulse the afterburners and thats that.
ANOTHER THING for the people who just get in and nail the afterburner right away... You are WASTING precious afterburner!. Wait until you just start moving until you hit the AB.Comment
