Why aren't new maps being integrated

For those of you that were around in BF42 days, there were a number of servers that ran both the orignal and the Road to Rome maps. If you were playing and you didn't have the expansion pack you were kicked out of the server for that round.

I've been wondering why more servers aren't integrating the Euroforce and Armored Fury maps (I realize that you can't integrate SF). We seem to have an all or nothing situation now - a server is either all original maps or one of the expansions 24/7. Well after a few days of constant play, the expansion maps get boring and folks stop playing.

Why not integrate both EF and AF into regular rotation on your servers?

Because when people get kicked form the server, they're not so likely to come back, and the server hosts are trying to get traffic to their servers.
Imagine if nobody on the server at the map-change has an expansion, then the server hsa nobody on it, and it won't repopulate very quickly, that's for sure.

Most likely because its hard enough to populate servers post 1.3 with the numberous server side crashes (about 4-8 daily from what I've heard). Taking a guess about on 25-20% of BF2 players have vanilla, EF and AF.

It probably wouldn't be wise to boot most of the server population to play one map.

I have a feeling that the numbers are much higher than that. I'd be interested to see the actual numbers however.

There are a fair number of full AF servers running right now. Just as there were with EF when it first came out - unfortunately because people get bored with it after a while, they stop playing, the servers switch over, and the expansion is dead (i.e. EF). Although quite a few guys probably have it on their system just sitting there.

I just think it would be interested to integrate them. Also, from EA's perspective, it might make more guys pony up the $10 to get them. Actually, if I were EA, I might even require that a ranked server has to run at least one expansion pack map in its rotation.

And most would never come come.

I don't have the AF and EF expansion packs, and those in my clan that have them all , have only played them once or twice.
SF was a compete waste of money since it has to run a separate server. That turned me off from ever buying another expansion.

It's all a money grab and there are enough suckers in the world who will pay for the expansions.

EA can't afford to have its players hate it anymore. I mean, forcing ranked servers to run an expansion map is just ludicrous. Half the ranked servers would just go offline over submit to that rule.

Yeah it sucks to pay for a server that boots half your regulars....AF is fun but not enough people who play in ours own it and since the cost of an empty server is the same as the full we go by what the masses have and want.

We tried integrating EF maps with Vanilla maps after EF came out. It was a disaster. At the time, we were running 32 player maps with a 40 person max count. We'd go from 35 to 40 players on a Vanilla map to 10-14 on an EF map. As others have said, once people leave, they usually don't come back. I have yet to see a server successfully integrate Vanilla and booster pack maps.

They're focusing too much on their next blunder the BF2142.
