Bad lag even before I can play... HELP

I've had Bf2 for some time now and it usually plays fine. On occasion the ea tital screen lags so I do a defrag or restore and walla it's fine again. This time its not working and the tital screen lags so bad, I can't play.
The only thing that has changed is that I am using an evaluation of system mechanic ( clean up and speeder uper program).
I've searched and tried system restore, defrag, updating video card drivers, reinstalled 1.30 full and then manually updated punkbuster (another ctd problem was fixed by that trick) virus scaned and turning off firewalls. I've checked registry and dxdiag. and every thing seems ok.
My system is a p4 3.4, 1.5 gig O RAM with a 7800gt card with all stock settings. Like I said, it has played fine even after that awfull 1.3 patch.
My other games run fine but I am noticing that on my desktop, like lets say start,recent documents, opens up and fades in a tad slow. A few times this week my system doesnt want to come out all the way of hibernation...just black screens. Any ideas? I want to use re install as a last resort. This is still a fairly new system so I'm doubting if anything is majorly wrong.
Any help would be appreciated!

how much ram is in use on system strtup?

press ctrl-alt-del & tell us how many programs u av running.

BTW Leeham, its not the best to copy over the problem, & not knowing what is causing it.

Av u ran any spyware/anti virus software yet?

Run avg free & spybot search & destroy.

I've ran avg and all kinds of other virus/spywear scans and it's not finding anything. I close most apps but I know its not that cause it used to run with everything on. My ram is 1.5 gig. Before, I could run bf2 with full settings and it ran fine. Now when windows resumes, it takes awhile also. The weakest link in my system is the power supply which is like 305 or 350 watts but I wouldn't think that it would slow down one game and not the others and all of the sudden like this. I don't think its in the video card ether cause after playing 3 strait hours before, it never broke a sweat and the drivers are current. Someone said in another forum that the 1.3 patch is fixed now so maybe I'll try that for now...

it most likely is use PSU, as i fink there is a minimum of wattage for the GFX card u have. Id go & get something abit more bestier like a 580W, also get one with a decent name to it, ie TAGAN

Maybe its not 1.3 and maybe its ps or something else cause half life 2 now runs in slow mo as well....... any other ideas... this sux!!!!

Well, I sent a trouble ticket to Ea games as suggested and they responded very fast. I tried everything they suggested, clearing cache, driver stuff and everything else but it didn't work. I ended up doing a compleate system refresh, back to factory new. I will have to save up for a new psu....
My new question might be dumb but, If I use system restore BEFORE I install the 1.3 patch will it resort back to that with out problems if the demon 1.3 patch messes up? Should I just wait for ea to get its stuff together?

I can pull the battery from the motherboard, put it back in, restart with nothing else changed and I can play at full settings just fine till I restart again.... Then It goes back to lag. Why is that????
