Whenever this happens, just go play on a different ranked server and get at least one kill. Normally it will catch up to you rather quickly during the weekdays, but during the weekends, it may take the whole weekend.

For SgtMajor, I was promoted about 5 times over the weekend before it finally showed up in my BFHQ.

yea it just takes its time
just go back on tomorrow and then get a point and it will auto promote

That just happened to me for Sergeant Major. As the others have said - if its during a week day just go to another server and kill one guy. But if its during the weekend theres probably a lot of people and might take a day or so.

Normally the promotion comes when you get to about 2,500.
