Honestly, becauseit is a scaled down version of the Gattling style 20mm cannon, that uses 7.62mm rounds. Its a mini version of the cannon. a minigun. There is also a mini-Minigun that fires 5.56mm rounds. Some have daubed this the Microgun.

And you can buy a GEM 134 for only $5 000. Of course that fires CO2 powered .177" BB's, but what the hell.

A real M134 that is transferable sets you back around $300 000, an airsoft one, well only $6 000. <Edit Toy Tech seem to be selling an AEG style one for around $3 000>
