    Soundcard Error with BF2

This error just started recently and I am not sure what has caused it but I have googled "idrvaldevice" and found only two entries tied with Creative. I have a brand new X-fi soundcard just put in my new system that was built from the ground up.

    My system specs are as,

    Mobo:Asus A8N32 MVP Deluxe
    Processor: AMD 3500+
Ram: 4 sticks of 512mb dual channel Cosair XMS TwinX 3200
Video card: Diamond Ati 1600 Pro PCI-E 512mb
    Soundcard: X-fi Xtreme Music

I am using the Beta drive for the X-fi card because it will allow you to have the "Xtreme" option in you audio settings. But I wonder why the error is coming from BF2. I think it all related back to OpenAL and its configuration. Now when I open BF2, I can go as far as joining a server but right before the sound plays, I get this error.

I am going to restart and try it and I am sure it will work but has anyone else come across this problem?

well firstly, I dont know how to fix it. but as for the beta drivers: with the regular (non-beta) drivers you can go into Ultra High settings, if you cant you are stupid and need to reinstall the drivers etc and do it the right way. its probably the drivers and I would go with the certified ones, seeing as how those beta ones dont have support for them.

are you doing any overclocking of the Hyper transport?

Don't refer to people as stupid, because I do tech support for a living. I am simply seeing if anyone has encountered the same problem and if so do they have or have found thier own workaround fix. Now if you don't have anything more intelligent to say the door is that way

The reboot fixed it but for more info on the drivers,

No overclocking on this rig, its really not needed.

sorry bro, I was A. in a bad mood (long story) and B. didnt mean to call anyone stupid, I guess i took a figure of speech a little far -_-. so I apologize.

but yeah, you should be able to use Ultra High settings with the normal drivers. and as for vista they dont have drivers but somewhere i heard that legacy stuff will work with It, i dont know if that applys to drivers (and im not a vista expert)

No worries, it's cool, at least you apologized for it which I respect.

But I am using Windows XP Pro, the desktop scheme I am using is call Luna Element, found @ http://www.deviantart.com/deviation/29511577/

It recodes the UXtheme.dll and allows you to inster theme without having to use style XP and so fourth.
