The problem with open-beta testing is you get those trying the beta files that do not have any real computer debugging skills. We see so many posts about basic problems that are generally easy to figure out but a lot cannot.
Now, these same players are going to install a beta patch and have all sorts of problems. This just causes more delays in the beta testing.
It is better to have a controlled group of beta testers that at least understand what their system and OS is doing.
Just wait, you will see the post "I installed the beta patch and it blew my power supply. I had to buy a new PS cause of your stupid buggy beta patch. I'm gonna sue you".
We will see all sorts of crap like that.
If you cannot debug your own system, then do not try installing a beta patch.
Also, do not install the beta on your main system. Always have a system setup for just running the beta programs. If it corrupts something, you just reflash the system and try again.
