Get your short Battlefield 2 names here

Hey all

I decided recently to start a new account to see how my stats would compare to my old account. I wanted a nice short name so I wrote a program to find out all the 3-letter Battlefield 2 names that were still free. I picked mine from the list so I'm sorted and I thought you might want to see what short names were free in case anyone wanted to use one.

None of them seem particularly great to me but maybe they're your initials or something. Anyway, the list is at..

No idea, just thought someone *might* want to use one, I'm not saying they're great or anything tho a crap name to you might be a good one for someone else.

You may not but David Quasimodo Killjoy or Ivan Brian Quail might think those are perfect. :laugh:

Cool program. How you guys do that stuff is beyond me.

On a similar note:

I got into BF2 late and was stunned disfigured, just plain disfigured, was available. I was actually quite happy. But I was wondering if I had previously used disfigured with the demo (was there log-in with the demo?) would it have saved it for me?

At first it seemed unavailable (login and account problems). Retreiving was a suggested test/fix. I attempted to retrieve "disfigured" and low and behold it was there. Could this have been my DEMO name I retrieved? Just curious if any of you know if that was the case with accounts.

As far as I know one account applies to all versions, demo or not. The problem with BF2 accounts is that they're not actually specific to BF2, they're Gamespy accounts. That's why a lot of people have such crap names as their proper name was taken a million years ago by someone setting up that name as a Gamespy account. For example, I'd like to play as Kurt but that accounts taken. Using BF2S I can see that Kurt has never played BF2 so I lose out on my name to someone who is not a BF2 player. Bummer.

Anyway, you can get lots of info via utils on the net. You like hockey eh?

The problem with BF2 accounts is that they're not actually specific to BF2, they're Gamespy accounts.

Ah ha, so I retrieved my age old GS account, from way way back. Thanks, I had a feeling there was little chance it was just a fluke no one choose the name up until April of this year.

Are you going to make an announcement like this everytime you put up a post?

Or sensibly, out on the street. It was only a jokey question anyway but this uppity type decided to twist it round. Quite right though, back on topic. That being 3 lettered names which I don't see much point in. I'll be off.
