    Which is the better round??

A question for the community. Who had the better round? A lone wolf who gets 30 kills but dies 25 times, or the squaddie who sticks with his group, plays safe, and gets 12 kills with only 2 deaths. I can tell you who had more fun, but who helped his team more?

    Who helped the team more?

It depends more on things like flag cap/assist and defend points and team points.

      I would prefer a 6 to 1 k/d over a 1.2 any day

besides: it's better if you die less, because your team then looses less tickets

Thanks for the replies. I maybe tearing down my own op, but I can see the point of the second post. You prob need to know more to decide for sure.

But on the other two posts, is it the general opinion that K/D is about the most important thing? Cant you say that the 30-25 player killed a bunch of hostiles who would have gone on to kill friendlies?

Also, can a team that plays for max k/d win a round on a map like say, Mash? On Mash, if you step out of bldg/cover you are sooner or later going to have L96 stamped on your face. I see it all the time, players /squads hanging around in a bldg, behind a fence/wall, playing it safe and getting squashed on the scoreboard and on flags because they're not taking chances. What do u guys think?

You forgot option 2.5: the Wargimp-style squad leader who hangs back and lets his guys keep spawning to take points and run down the other team's tickets continuously.

I made this argument awhile back that someone who just charges the front line continuously and dies as often as they kill is not adding to their team's bottom line. The rare exception would be during ticket bleeding due to too few CPs. Yet their score only reflects their success. This contributes to the arcade action and is why relatively few use stealth or flanking. No amount of skillful planning can overcome the point farming of hyper-activity. So some newbie who charges repeatedly and has a 10 kills and 30 deaths (without accounting for teamwork points) will have a higher score than someone who goes 9-0 for the round.

I made the suggestion of deducting 1 point per death (remember you get 2 points per kill) and was savagely beaten by most posters who I'll assume are primarily under 18 and don't have a clue. Granted if you are on foot and get shot by a tank while trying to defend a flag, that probably doesn't warrant a point deduction. My intent was not to cover every scenario but to more fairly reward people who are careful enough and skillful enough to prevent their team from losing excess tickets. Given the relative scarcity of armor and its potential to wreak havoc, it makes sense to grant say 5 points instead of 2 for a tank kill. Then the risk (-1 pt death)/reward (5 pt tank kill) incentive would remain intact.

Ideally the person with the most caps / assists / defends is being the most helpful but the scoring system does not reflect this. The fact that you get the same points for a kill as a cap is, IMHO, rediculous as this is meant to be a Conquest type game, not deathmatch. You should get 5 points per cap to encourage people to cap instead of playing deathmatch.

That's why I think kills and deaths should not be that relevant. However, if you have a lot of kills and few deaths you are obviously helping your team by reducing the other teams tickets. Generally, my kills are a little bit higher then my deaths but I do a lot of capping and defending and try to play in squads. That's the way I like to play. Don't get me wrong, I'd love to keep getting 30 kills and no deaths but I'd love even more to get a ton of caps, no kills and no deaths.

This is the better style. A squad does a lot more damage and helps a team way more than a lone Wolf Sniper and 30 kills 25 deaths is crap for a sniper!

We would see A LOT more AT and Spec Ops, and you wouldn't see so many armor whores in pubs IMHO (unless the 5 point tank kill extended even to other armor). Regardless of whether the 5 point thing worked for other armor, you'd see a lot more armor going after other armor instead of just spawn camping newbs in a tank.

Colt, and i say thats a GOOD thing. I've seen it time and time again, especially on Karkand, where one teams tanks is in one road spawn camping Hotel, the others in is the next alley spawn caming the USMC's base and they stay like that for 3-5 min. All they care about is killing infantry.

While this wouldn't happen in my Clan matches, getting effective AT support up and running is hard in a pub. If everyone was now gunning for those 5 points instead of tryig to pick up a couple of frag grenade kills before getting tanked, the game would be mucm more fluid.

Lately I've given up all hope on teamwork, just too many **** ****s playing so I just go on my own.

personally i like to maintain my skill death ratio, even going lone wolf i can still get [B]at least one [B] kill to each death so its not that hard,
and those who revive and heal resupply are also extending the longevity of their teammates lives
