Need help with knifing

I always find my self being beaten out when it comes to knife combat. Does anyone have any tips for knifing succesfully???

Amen to that, I love shock kills.

I think the key to knifing is remembering that they'll die in one hit no matter where you knife them, so go for the biggest target (their nice, juicy torso). Knifing in particular exposes the wacky netcode and hit detection, so be prepared to scream "WHAT THE HELL?!? THERE WAS DUST!!!" at your computer every time you get in a knife fight.

Yes i understand the effectivness of shock paddles over the knife, however you cant earn a knife badge with shock paddles, and i'm not always a medic.

One thing - the distance is larger than the animation. You can knife someone further away than you think...you don't always need to be up on him...

Quoted for truth. I would never stab for the torso (unless the victim does not see me coming). If the guy sees me coming I jump, dive and stab. Keep trying it from further distances until you get a feel for where the hit box is. Also, never just stab once. My first stab almost never works. I always click like crazy when stabbing until the guy goes down. Dont wait to see if the stab works, JUST KEEP CLICKING!

Crouching is better than going prone, IMO, especially if you are both trying to knife each other. Strafing will help too. In genereal, the best option is stealth - sneak up behind them.

I was caught in a knife fight last night. We both must have swung about 10 times, jumping around and crouching and all that. He got me when I crouched under his jump. So I respawned and ran up behind him, and stuck him in the back. Vengence is sweet.

I'm no knife expert though.

The whole trick to knifing is timing, when you take the shot there is a shot delay as the knife thrusts out but before the damage registers. All you have to do is predict where the enemy is going to be .5 seconds from the time you hit the button and aim there. That dive knifing crap is for lamers, when I see them do that I just crouch down an drop those dumb b!tches like a sack of potatoes. One click one stab, just learn the timing. Timing and accuracy are all you need. The best tho is when someone is unloading on you with an auto gun from like a foot away and you walk up and stab them in the face.

Also if you have the UAV it makes it real easy to see which way people are pointed and sneak up behind them.

Be sneaky. Stalk your prey and approach from behind. Keep an eye on the UAV. Sure you can run at guys and sometimes you'll catch them with an empty clip and can knife them but typically you'll get a face full of lead. A fairly easy way to get the 7 kills is to sneak into an enemy base. I got mine at the West Mine base on FuShe Pass (64 player). I stayed under the platform and knifed. If a enemy Medic is nearby, all the better. When they come in to revive your victim you knife them too. You can also pick up easy knife kills with guys manning fixed AA sites on any map. On Sharqi, sneak around the Construction Site and knife snipers. The buildings are typically full of them. On Karkand, there's lots of knifing opportunities in the area in front of the Hotel. Pick a corner, hide and look for anyone going prone and/or approach guys from behind and stab them.

Play Op. Cleansweep, really easy to get knife kills if you play as a sniper. Noone can see you coming. Failing knife wip out a claymore :P

You could also try mapping your middle mouse button (pushin scroll wheel) to knife, for quick and easy access. This helped me a lot.

Agree with mouse mapping. I've got my knife and pistol both mapped to mouse buttons. Also have my night vision goggles mapped to another button for playing Special Forces.

Oh, and THAT isn't "lame". Cummon! Diving is pure balls-to-the-wall adrinaline rush.

Now don't get me wrong, sneaking up for a kill is neat too!

Want a real lesson in knifing? Play a coop with bots on med to hard difficulty...those bots can stab!
