Jet + Heli Throttle

Hi Guys, I've been having trouble contro lling the throttle on jets and choppers, is there any way to fly at 60% throttle rather than afterburner or nothing.............I'm a noob so sorry if this is a stupid question.

I assume you're using a keyboard?

Get a joystick :) Or I suppose it could be done by constantly tapping the w key.

Joystick with a throttle.

Logitech Force 3D Pro is the one I use.

Jets tend to fall out of the sky on low throttle. They need a bit of speed to stay airborne

Choppers you fly with the throttle. Check out the Army Dr. tutorials.

Yup. I personally have it set at 80% for JSF. Then I either add or decrease throttle with the keys.

Saitek EVO models have throttle built into the stick. They can be fragile, but I have been really happy with mine. Once you get used to it, you will find yourself always adjusting the throttle when flying planes for turning, fly over repairs over runways, missile evasion (for some stupid reason, slowing seems to throw off missiles), dog fighting etc. I could never leave it on one setting for too long. Choppers are the same, I am always adjusting the throttle for turns, hovering and precision flying. The throttle on my stick is so much more precise than using the KB.

rather than holding forward like in ground vehicles/on foot/boats. air vehicles should have a throttle, just like the old flight sims and old star wars games like tie fighter. when you start the vehicle it should have no throttle, when you press forward, the throttle goes up quickly, so you just go to full speed and you needent press anything to keep that speed. bringing the speed down or creating reverse thrust is just as easy. theres no reason a system like this wouldnt work and work better.

i fly with my mouse, and i fly well, most pilots swear by the joystick, but honestly switching your yaw and roll on the mouse is much more intuitive and generally better. plus when you bail theres no fumbling.

I always fly at 100% throttle, unless im trying to repair. I find you die more if you fly slower.

TBH in jets, throttle response is extremely slow so there is no difference between the keyboard and throttle.. other than the fact you can maintain a certain speed.

But there should be no reason you need to be below 100%... other than repairing/re-arming, or evading missles.

and that with a throttle you arent repeatedly clicking to maintain a slower flight

But there should be no reason you need to be below 100%... other than repairing/re-arming, or evading missles.

thats diffinitly wrong, shooting down choppers for one, and also, to lose an enemy jet or match thier speed.

I think it is extremely stupid to slow down to take out a chopper. I take out choppers on a single pass at full speed and pulsed afterburner with no problem.

I'm sorry... but if you are one of the ****ers that has to slow down to 300 mph in a jet, just to take out a chopper.. I hate people like you.

If you can't kill it going 1000+, you need to learn how to use the cannon. Don't rely on missles.

I go full throttle at almost all times.

The only time I go slow is because you need to be <900 mph to rearm both bombs on an airfield.
