    Autoswitching & BF2

Is this the dumbest feature or what?

I cannot stand when I am busting my ass trying to cap a flag and succeeding, only to get autoswitched to the opposite team and having to undue my work.

Now I understand the idea behind autoswitching and team balance. In games like CS and CS:S, its a must. But I don't think it belongs in BF2. There is far more work and objectives in BF2 than in other games.

Have any of you had issues with this? Comments.

It gets frustrating indeed. I usually start a squad only to avoid this. However, there are some servers that will switch you no matter what. I got switched not long ago to the other team and I was the freaking commander!

My biggest issue is that autobalance makes it NEARLY impossible to play with friends

Add to that the recent trend of servers randomizing teams between rounds and it can make hooking up with and squadding with friends a chore.

I agree with the rationale behind it, so I don't mind it being in game.

BUT...when I do play on autobalance OFF servers, I have really not seen any team stacking. I can probably count on one hand the number of times I've seen the teams stacked (in that there were WAY more on one side than the other).

It's probably because the BH isn't the saught after weapons platform that it used to be in v1.0 causing every point whore to flock to the USMC.

Be a squad leader or commander, they have less chance to get switched. I dont mind switching but I realy hat it when it says 'you was kicked for a clan member' - server is half full and you are pwning the enemy (admins). -.-

..but GETTING to your desired team in the first place is the problem. We have no problem once we're on the same team and squadded up.

I think the underlying issues with the whole auto-balance-randomization thing are:

-Avoid having all lower ranked players on one team and higher ranked on the other side

-The ability to play with friends on the same team

You may end up having to sacrifice one for the other. I would also think a fix to this might skew things even more than they are now. Thoughts?

There is a script on the BF2 wiki modifyed by Flits from DFF Clan to put all clan members on the same team and prevent autobalance for them... PM me if you want it.

Let me dispell a myth here. Just because a server has Autobalance 0 doesn't mean there isn't any AB. The clued on servers have the standard AB off and run smart balance instead.

With regular AB you may not be able to switch teams, with smart balance you can. However it will switch someone back and it could still be you to keep the teams balanced.

You don't need any script standard BF2CC daemon stops your clan from being auto switched as per below.
The other reason servers like ours run smart balance is we can put in clan tags so they never get switched, not just our own but other clans who donate can be guaranteed to always play without getting switched. However anyone who donates can get this too.

You get what you pay for so if you don't pay for this feature then its just tough and you have to put up with it! Be a squad commander or commander is the only way you can get around it without coughing up the big bucks.

I agree, I try to look out for autobalance off servers and have noticed the same thing. Not sure why specifically (maybe some are using BF2CC or some other script) but players seem to balance themselves out nicely.

I've noticed this a few times:

Run in gung-ho, kill a few guys but end up getting killed myself.
                        Auto switch teams.
                        After switching I'de have a negative score......

                        Anyone else seen this..........

before the wcr req was lowered, i almost always see team stacking. 14 vs 4? common.... happy to see teamswitch, but not playerswitch, n definitely not during a round like noskills has experienced. gotta undo what u had done.
